im upgrading a ship and im puttin on a stinger for instance, lets say the size is 8, im doing this on a defender size hull

now when i add the stinger on a huge hull for example, the size for the stinger is 16.............wut the heck haha

Each component also has a SizeMod factored into it, which increases its size according to the size of the hull it is being put on. So your Stinger takes up more room on a large hull than it does on a small hull.

You can see the SizeMod tag for each component by looking in the GC2Types.xml file.

Moose is right, components are bigger on bigger ships.

What miniaturization does is increase the total slots of a ship, thus allowing you to put more components on it.

I try to make a habit of 'being right'.

Sometimes it is to my advantage, sometimes, it is not.

This doesn't make sense to me, there are no slots in galCiv II. Isn't it just so that you can fit more on a large hull, but not as much as the hullspace is bigger than small hulls (the space a part takes is modified for larger hulls)?

i guess it does make sense, otherwise if the size was the same for each hull you'd have a ship with like 800 attack haha

ok i understand the size difference for components and such for different sized hulls..............but when i get better miniturization techonology and lets say the defender goes from 28 capacity to 48 capacity........the size of the components go up the same fraction as the hull capacity...........doesnt that defeat the purpose of miniturization...........

Update the game. That was fixed in 1.3, IIRC.

so the update is all fixed from the random shutdowns and such?...

If you're experiencing crashes and are running an old version of the game, it is quite possible that updating will fix that.
