Yep.

Yes. Good game I thought, despite it's age.

Great game. Amazing what that game could do and it would fit on 1 or
2 floppies.

Some said it was "spreadsheets in space." But I liked it despite the
lack of eye candy.

Quite a good tutorial too.

Hi!

I'm just at turn 24 in an 8-live-players 200-planets Stars! game. There's still an active community at Stars! Autohost. Come and join us if you're bored with the AI falling on the same tricks for the n-th time.

Stars was a great game, played it a lot back in the day (along with a game that came before that, VGAPlanets).

I would pop into one of the fan sites periodically to see if there was any progress/update on the successor, Stars Supernova. The site's now defunct, and I assume the sequel will never come out. Too bad

Stars Supernova. The site's now defunct, and I assume the sequel will never come out.

Unfortunattely that's true. On rec.games.computer.stars you can find a topic "Stars Supernova Genesis Beta" where one of it's designers RJ Ladd explains what happened.

Not at all! From Autohost you can download the latest patch STARS26JRC4.ZIP and from RGCS you can get a valid serial (check the thread "Please donate your Stars! serial number here". If you want a UNIQUE serial you can e-mail Rom (the AH webmaster) and he will give you one for a small donation of up to 6 USD.

Ji!
Can't find that topic, and I'm not using paypal

It's from 7th of Sep. 2006, search for "donate serial".
