I just (well, this morning) got my new system. Right now, I'm downloading GalCiv and DA again, shouldn't be long.
The only drawback? I got Vista. Yes, right, I'll go stand in the corner and hang my head in shame. But a new system seemed the perfect point to make the change. So now I wait with baited breath to see if GalCiv2 performs as stunningly as Medieval 2 or GTR 2, the only two other games I have tested so far.
Intel Core2Duo E6600
2 GB Infineon RAM
2x200GB HD in RAID 1
ATI HD2900XT
Creative X-Fi
Chieftec Mesh Tower
530 W Power Supply
DVD-RAM / Dual Layer Burner with Lightscribe
I think I saw a small stutter in Medieval, but that may as well have been my jaw hitting the ground after turning up every single detail setting I could find. Sims 2 *runs for the corner again* will be another real test, with massive needs for RAM and HD access.
One thing puzzles me, and that's the reason for posting: I can't get the full version of Futuremarks 3dMark06 to start. It already is the 1.1 version that should be 'Vista enabled'. During install, it said it needed Dx9. Naturally, I chose to ignore it, as Vista comes with Dx10. So it threw a fit and told me it can only start with Dx9. After downloading and installing that, I get the splash-screen ('Scanning system, may take up to a minute'), and that's it. It stays like that for hours.
Does anybody have any advice on that? I mean, I prefer games working and benchmarks not working compared to the other way 'round, but I still would like to run a benchmark or two...
