I CANT GET MY MOD TO WORK!!!!!

ok is ther like a folder where u put mods in or something cuz if ther is, i dont hav one..................plsssssssssssssssssss help

im usin version 1.5(DA) cuz i cant seem to download the 1.6 and everyone says thers a ton of problems with it lol

im usin stefans weapons pak for DA and i asked him but hes to computer literal to explain it haha so i need it in lamenst terms

the directions say to copy it into the galciv2/DA folder and make backup files of the gc2 types.............wut?.......lol

1.Open My Computer
2.Double Click C:, Program Files, Stardock, TotalGaming, GalCiv2, DarkAvatar, Data, English.
3.Copy and paste the file called 'GC2Types.xml' somewhere safe.
4.Unzip the download into C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\DarkAvatar\
5.Click 'Yes' at any prompts.

Hope that's simple enough for you .

ok i had to reinstall my game cuz i messed the files up to much trying to get the mod to work haha

ok so let me get this straight........

i just simply copy the data file into the galciv2/darkavatar folder (same for the gfx and sfx files)

now when i do that, i open the sfx file and the new ones are there but some of the old ones are also..........do i need to delete the original sfx,gfx,and data files before copying the moded ones in???
?
(and do i copy them into the galciv2 folder or the galciv2/darkavatar folder??? (i play dark avatar but it doesnt seem to work when i copy into that file))
