Changed Monitor now game wont run

My monitor died yesterday and I've replaced it with an older ADI Microscan 5P which has lower maximum resilution than the broken monitor.

Now Galactic Civilisations wont run on anything other than default settings for the graphics. I've tried reinstalling and it's still happening.

Any ideas?

Delete the prefs.ini file from My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2 (Or \GC2DarkAvatar for DA) to reset the game to the default settings, or open it with notepad and change the DisplayWidth= and DisplayHeight= lines to match your desktop resolution.

I did that - but as soon as I go back into the game and change the settings and restart the game the game wont run

Might be setting something that won't work with the new display, then. Go ahead and post the contents of your debug.err file so we can see what exactly it's trying to do. You can find the debug.err in C:\Program Files\Stardock\Totalgaming\GalCiv2 (\DarkAvatar if for DA), just open it with notepad and copy+paste everything here.
