Having trouble loading 1.6

Hi,

A few days ago, I tried to download 1.6 from SDC. It said it didn't recognize my registration, but when I clicked "OK", it (apparently) started to download. After a couple of minutes, I received a message saying "download sucessful".

I went to the DA main menu (the one that allows you to choose "different chapters"), right clicked, and selected "about" The version number was still 1.51.

However SDC shows a current version number of 1.6 as having been loaded onto my computer.

Since it seems that 1.6 was sent to my computer, I can manually run it if I knew where SDC dumps it by default.

Or alternatively, is there another site I can download it directly from (without having to go theough SDC.

I've checked and re-checked my serial number and email address. I really don't think that's the problem. When I bought DA, I got a registration number and a CD number. I've tried both. I've had trouble with SDC before, and I'd really like to find a solution without having to go through the SDC "gateway".

Thanks,

B.

The game and patch are only downloadable via SDC, sorry.

If SDC didn't properly update the game, you may try archiving your current install for safety then uninstalling and reinstalling the game. If that doesn't get the version properly sorted, then I'd suggest contacting [email protected].

Which directory or group of directories do I back up to save my "current install".

Just curious as to why patches are only available via SDC...

Thanks,

Just right click on the items to back up in SDC and choose Archive Application->Selected Application. That will generate .sdc archives in C:\Program files\Stardock\Stardock Central\BACKUP which can be restored at a later time should the need arise.

I unistalled the program and then re-installed it via SDC. (The re-instal time seemed normal, but the unistall seemed extremely fast??)

The main screen still says 1.51, ..but maybe the version number indicator in "about" doesn't update properly.

The best way to see if the program updated to 1.6 is to view the in-game effects. Right now, the trade screen doesn't show the maximum a civ will pay for a tech trade. (a new feature of 1.6)

So stupid question...

In order for the new features to be seen, do I have to start a brand new game, or should the features be available in a current game (that I started before loading 1.6)?

Thanks,

B.

Some things may appear in prior games, but you generally need to start a new one.

The about page you're looking at is the version of the launcher itself--the version number that matters is the one shown in the bottom left of the game's main menu screen (where you start a new game from, not the launcher).
