Vista scrolling fix for DA, but not for GalCiv on its own!

Basically as the titles suggests... with the 1.6 DA patch the scrolling slowdown when panning the camera has been fixed in Vista... but that doesn't apply to the original GalCiv 2 on its own.

Is there a quick fix for this?

Unfortunately not. Cari had to completely rewrite the minimap code to work around the issue, so that new code would need to be ported back to DL to resolve the issue there. I'm not sure if there are any plans to do that or not at this point (will have to check on it in the morning).

Is it really that difficult to port it over from the expansion (ok, clearly I have no knowledge of these things)...?

That's a bit of a bummer... as I keep getting my arse handed to me on DA and would like to go back to DL.

Still, if it's a nVidia thing then I suppose it isn't your problem.

But still...

It's doubly frustrating for me because I've only just bought the game.

I find the original release unplayable under Vista and I don't want to play the expansion pack first.

To be honest I'd be thinking of trying to get a refund right now but of course I bought it online so I don't think that's even possible. I'm really quite disappointed about this.

The DL campaign can be played under DA, so I'm not sure why you feel it's necessary play DL instead of DA unless you dislike some of the gameplay changes. It's not really an expansion in the traditional sense, since the focus of the game lies in sandbox games rather than the campaign.

OK - I wasn't aware of this. I bought the Gold Edition, online, which came with no manual that I could see.

I then noticed I could load DL and DA separately, and that only DL had tutorial missions. So I naturally assumed it would be better to start with that.

I need to investigate this further, it seems. Thanks for the info.

There's a 'Manual' button in the launcher which opens the PDF version of it.

Yes I have the same problem. Galciv2 has scrolling problem but DA is ok. Can you make a fix for this please as I want to just play GALCIV2 and not DA. I am running vista and DA works fine but it would be nice to have GALciv2 working as well. Thanks

Last I spoke to Cari about it, she hoped to get it out alongside the 2.0 patch for DA/TA after TA's release.

Argh no to long to wait.lol.It took me a week to re download Dread lords and now i have the scrolling issue.I have purchased DA as well for my pc but i cant face it taking years to download :( But if its the only way i can play the game i might have to start.Grr i hate vista
