Evil planet not flipping eve at 11x the influence.

With no planetary improvements to prevent it.

Hey guys, in my last game I had a nearby Drengin planet next to my colony which was sitting at 11x the influence with a little pirate flag to indicate it was ready to flip. However it never did so in some 50+ turns. I planted a spy on it to check for any improvements that might cause this (re-education center I think?) but there was only standard factories and some research labs on it.

Anyone know why this would be so? I've haven't seen any specific tech to cause it, and there was never a notification of Drengin building any galactic specials of any kind.

Did you build the Mind Control Center?

Does it bug influence taking over planets?
That would explain on why when i had 35 influence points on a torian planet, and it wouldnt flip, other planets nearby also were in the double digits, this would be a good thing to stop people going evil all the time

Hey Virigoth,

What beta are you running your game with?
I experienced some odd behaviour with revolting planets that just wont flip as well, in my beta 5 game i just finished. I thought i was imagining something and that it was just bad luck. However, some of the planets took like up to 3 years each and they only did seem to flip one at a time (thats why that game took 55 years). Then again, i had periods where they were flipping as frequent as usual.
Oh, and i also had that mind control thingy, that is supposed to increase the chance of a revolting planet to flip.
The only things i can think of, why it is behaving like that, is either bad luck, a change made to the flip chance modifier or a bug.
I thought i was just unlucky, until i read your post. Darn, i wish i still had a save of that game.

I had no MC center.
I was an evil custom race.

One thing I thought off though: Do plants flip when you're at war? I'm pretty sure I was at war with the dudes at the time.

PS. On related note, does Yor's 100% loyalty bonus do anything? I've never noticed any effect in game.

PSS. Beta is latest version out of Stardoc as of yesterday.

I just searched the forum for related posts and it seems as if the MCC is indeed bugging the flip chance. So as for now the only way to not getting the MCC by accident, when going for a victory via influence, is to exclude all evil AI races from your game.

Oh yes, they do. In my experience, the foreign relations, no matter if "ally" or "at war", dont have any impact on the chance of a planet to flip.

I had no MC center.

Hmmn, did you have any other planets of evil races join up with your empire, that
could have had the MCC already build on them?

is this a recent post? MCC gives +100% economy despite its description (which AFAIK was left as-is from an early beta version or something). i don't ever remember seeing anything (that hadn't been disabled) in the XML for other special abilities.

Virigoth, i can't think of anything else, so i just thought i'd suggest that it's possible that you're just having bad luck. as unlikley as it seems, it's statistically guaranteed to happen sooner or later.

As far as I know the MCC still prevents any planet flipping. I think that it doesn't even matter by whom it is built.

I guess that it's a bug in the code because judging from its description the MCC is meant to increase the flipping chance. The global +100% to economy is unwanted as well, I'd say. It could be similar to Stock Markets: Suddenly someone will realise "What? They give +5% morale?" and will change it.

Apologies, i forgot to post a link.
Mind Control Center prevents planets from defecting to your civ? By ge zus

It is this particular post beside my own experience, that made me assume that there is probably something buggy about the MCC in correlation with the flipping chance modifier.

As i stated in my initial reply to Virigoth, they do flip, it just takes bloody long.
And i agree with you, it doesnt seem to matter who build it, since my ethical alignment was neutral and i got the mcc somewhere along the way to military victory through cultural conquest, from an ai race. ^^

interesting. i don't play evil as often, so i've had less chance to see it.

Well here is the strange part: One of the other non evil races eventually took the planet and flipped [B]instantly[/B.

I did not have MCC at the time, I'm not sure if the race who held the planet while it did not flip did. If the MCC when built gives a GCC notification then I know it didn't have it.

I've had a similar experience in a game where I had no problem flipping thallan planets but dreggin planets just would not flip unless I had an influence base on both side of the planet, both fully loaded. It took 50 turns or more to flip most of them, but two of them just did not flip at all. Those planets were right in ther middle of my influence zone as well. I spyed on all planets, but did not see an MCC.

Ah, but you missed the point about the MCC. It's not that if the opponent has it, his planets will be almost impossible to flip. It's if YOU have it. It gives 100% econ to you, but makes it very difficult for you to flip an opponent's planet.

I will be aware of this next time.
