Two Problems: Relations and Failing to save

Ok, as I reported in another post (linked)WWW Link I have found a semi-repeatable bug where saving the game, as well any new ship designs fails. I'll post the debug.err after this. I'm playing DA1.6b4, with a Windows XP laptop. Luckily I caught it early and I still have both of my autosaves (available, if you're interested)!

A more minor problem is that I've found that sometimes two races have different relations set for one another - ie, the Korath are Close to the Arceans, but the Arceans are Hostile towards the Korath. I have a save of this behaviour as well, if the dev team is interested.

I have found a semi-repeatable bug where saving the game, as well any new ship designs fails.


Potentially dumb question, but do you have enough free disk space on the drive where My Documents is located?

Yes, 3.8GB free on C (My Docs), 2.4GB free on D (where the game is located).

Ok. What error message (if any) do you get when you do those things?

None. That's the thing, there's no warning, it just sneaks up on you.

There are lines in the debug however,

Debug Message: Popup Manager Update: Unhiding SaveGameWnd
Debug Message: Save Game: About to save
Debug Message: Saving game C:\Documents and Settings\Greg Logan\My Documents\My Games\GC2DarkAvatar\War.sav
Debug Message: Failed to create save file.


The relations bug doesn't appear in the debug at all. It isn't a one-turn thing either, since when I continue from my save they keep those relation settings for quite a long time after that too (20+ turns).
