Yet another newbie question: what are the bonus prod/research expenses?

I searched the forums and couldnt find anywhere where those expenses come from? They account for about 10-15% of my expenses and was looking at a way to reduced them...then realized I have no idea what they are ?

I turned off all focus on every planet thinking maybe that was it but without any luck

Could someone explain to me how these expenses are calculated?

Thanks in advance

I don't really understand your question?

But whatever production takes place, regardless of the cause, it will cost you money. Some production is more efficient than others tho.

On my finance management screen I have the following was expenses:

Military: 211bc
Social: 28bc
Research: 170bc
Ship Maintenance: 252bc
Colony Maintenance: 419bc
Bonus Prod/research: 154bc
Starbase Maintenance: 25bc

My question basically is: where/what is the Bonus Prod/Research made of?
Hope I was clearer this time hehe.

Thanks in advance

you can get a production bonus from anomelies, or even one of your racial abilities (up to 50% more militairy or social production).
that is the extra cost.

so wait, your racial bonuses cost you money?

Some, yes. Things like speed don't, but the two productions and the bonus research one definitely do.

Another source of bonus prod is starbases and moons around your planets.

You only pay for 50% of your bonus production/research, that's why it is separated from your regular production/research expenses.

Ahh that makes sense! It's something to consider for sure when picking starting abilities then.

Thanks everyone for the quick response

Yes indeed! so a 25% military production bonus gets cut to 8.3% if all your economic production sliders are on 33% each then cut it again by another 50% because of the cost of the production... so the actual military production bonus you get is not 25% but 4.2%!!!
