DA 1.6 changes

Hi!
So far there are quite some changes in new DA 1.6 beta 5. I'll list those I know of:

- Civ Capital: food 16 (12 in previous version), morale 40% (25%),
- Initial Colony: production 16 (12), maintenace cost 12 (14),
- Logistics cost of medium hull 5 (4),
- Logistics cost of large hull 7 (6),
- Colony module helds 250M pop (500),
- Trading less extreme,
- AIs like Luck trait (in my curent maso game 7 of 9 have it).

Please post here if you find sth. I didn't mention.

Those numbers were in place long before patch 1.6. I was seeing that way back in default DA and thinking that they had the manual wrong.

Things i noticed that are different:

-trade goods had their value increased (its way more costly now trading them off of the ai)
-it seems to be no longer possible to improve your relations with a race by giving them gifts (eg.: all your planets ^^) ...this might be an older change, beta4 maybe

It's possible that Precursor Mines/Libraries can no longer be generated on the homeworld, at least on Medium or Large maps. (It used to be that they could show up on any map size larger than Small.) I haven't tried Huge or Gigantic yet.

EDIT: Okay, maybe I just got unlucky for a while. One Precursor Mine appeared after a bit more Ctrl-Ning.

Incidentally, I would approve of changing the game so that Precursor Mines/Libraries were not possible on homeworlds, or at least making it that way for metaverse games.

Errm, ignore that. Just started a new game and its working now ...weird. Could it be, that at a certain point an ai civilization simply can get to rich, that no matter what you trade them, it just wont be enough to improve relations?

More changes:

- Colony Module costs 50 (previously 30)
- More Colony Modules on a ship = more population capacity (I don't think this was the case earlier?). For those whining that colony ships have been nerfed, be aware that you can design a 750M capacity colony ship on the first turn. (Okay, I don't know why you'd want to, since the ship would cost 205. But the option is there...)

Random observation:
- Super Breeder is more powerful than I thought -- the 4x 100% approval bonus does not replace the old 2x bonus, it's actually multiplicative with it, so you get 8x growth. This 8x growth, in turn, is fully multiplicative with the "normal" growth bonuses you get from Aphrodisiac/Fertility Acceleration/etc. ...not like you need the help. (Does anyone know when the 100% approval bonus became fully multiplicative? I know it already was in 1.6b2, and I seem to remember that it wasn't in DL.)

Because of the new attack logic in Beta 6, if you don't have luck, your 25% less likely to win a battle. Your attack power is 0 to MAX depending on your luck at the roll of the dice. Sounds like "Risk" a little? So if you don't have luck as your ability all your weapons will be weaker on the average. I don't agree with it, but it is what it is.

i have been finding that my game continualy crashes with an out of memory error... really frustrating since it frequently occurs when i am about to save the game. i have 5 GB of memory on my machine, and have allocated 3gb of virtual memory... What gives? i am playing on a huge map, not a gigantic one... with scattered planets. None of my races are using intensive CPU, nor am i... Dread Lords NEVER EVER crashed and i played far more intensive games on that... How the heck do i uninstall this RAM Buggy beta without also deleting the darn game?

Hi!
The 50% reduction of trade revenue when treasury is higher than 10,000BC seems to be gone. I still need to confirm that with a testbed.

Dog of Justice has discovered that the 3.5% base population growth before planet hits 75M growth cap seems to have a random part of about half a percent. More research needed.

If you got the game via download, you should have archived it on SDC. If so, just restore said archive.
As far as being 'RAM buggy', this beta still seems to have it's quirks. I played for a while over the weekend on a medium, all abundant, all majors/minors game. RAM use seemed a little strange still as it would suck up about 800mb's or so before seeming to 'hold', only losing RAM in small increments after that. If I used FreeRAM to unload some RAM, I would notice that RAM would then 'rise' about one or two mb's at a clip, slowly, until 'maxing out' back at my original RAM specs (minus normal windows 300 to 400 use). Game ran fine otherwise, just a few minor glitches that weren't a big deal. Frame rate still seems to hold steady and well. Just wish they could figure out this RAM issue. I know there has to be more to it, especially since I monitored two other games (Warhammer and SimCity)and the RAM use wasn't erratic like it is with DA. Something more to look at I guess.
