Why Wont They Work?!?!?!?

I've downloaded the latest GC2 & a number of mods. I've unzipped them into the GC2 Mods directory. I've chosen the mod I want to try for the game and play it through to victory.
So far none of them have worked. Not APmod, Stargate mod, Total Conversion mod, No Impprovements mod, or others.
The only mod that I got to work was Techtree 1220060, & that doesnt go into the mod directory.
WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?

Did you remember to also tick the 'enable mods' box and restart the game?

Thank you! I was so involved in getting the mods folder right that I completely forgot!
Thanks again, because I doubt that I would have noticed that on my own.

With most mods you unzip it into Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\Mods or Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\DarkAvatar\Mods

My mods folder originially went to the one for galactic Civ. But i changed it becuase although mods were going to the actual game screen, no ships were showing up in the build screen... not even the game original ships.

i created a mods folder in the avatar folder, and somehow the game found it and again loaded the mod... still same problem. i get the mod to load, and i even have the starting out mod ships. But then when i go to the build screen... there are absolutely no ships available... techs and weapons are... but they have no pictures.

i tried to reset the mod folder to the orignial, but it won't go there now...

i was trying to get the Star Trek mod to work... what am i doing wrong? Why is this so confusing?

What mods were you trying to use, and how were you doing it?

If it's just the star trek mod, your best bet is to ask for help on the star trek mod thread where the makers will see it.

It was the Star Trek mod that i was attempting to load, but this is irrelevant. The issue is that i can't seem to make the game go back to its original configuration of finding mods in the original location even if i have deleted mods in the new location because there is apparantly no real way to navagate folders from within the game itself...

Just click the 'default' button in the change directory popup. Make sure you have the latest version of the game first, though (1.4x or 1.5).
