Anyone seen this happen before?

Hi
I am playing DL and there is a minor race called the Akillans. If i give them ships, they cannot move them??

Ok so now i am busy surrounding all my maxed out econ starbases with their ships, and they stay right there in place and block attackers!! nice, but i was wondering if anyone has seen this happen before?

uhm, when you gave the ships to them, have they been near the akillians planet. It sounds like the ships are out of the akillians range.

I’ve occasionally see ships freeze in place if they out of life support range. They can make it back, but there might be a reason (obstacle?) that prevents the AI from moving them. This happened once when my influence overwhelmed a Yor planet, the ships were ejected, and just stayed there.

Or the AI might want them right where they are!

Hard to say.

When gifting ships you have to 'bring' it to them before they can take control, as was stated, it was probably out of their range. If you park it right next to their planet though, they will use it pretty much immediately.

Thanks for confirming that, suikos and Evil Stormbringer. I've noticed that AIs typically leave ships I gift to them right where they are. Sometimes, even if they are at war with another AI. I wasn't sure why until now. I've been moving them out of my way before gifting them lately, but now I know to just send them to the recipient first.

I've noticed that when my survey ship goes thru a wormhole and ends up out of range, I have to remember to move the ship each turn until it's back within range. Even if it's set to auto-explore, auto-survey, or just set to move to a waypoint, the ship will just stay in place.

To avoid having to use this 'painful' method just click on a spot within your 'territory' on the minimap and your ship will autopilot itself all the way home.

or you can avoid the wormhole altogether.

i think it's more like the akillians didn't know what to do with them, they build no military and if you check their states the only bonus they have is economic. the terrans left a battleship right next to their planet, orginaly it was heading for the yor but they signed a peace treaty and it stopped and didn't move it until war was declared on the thalan.

I played a galaxy where the Akillians were more powerfull then two of the majors.

Well if they're not at war, what do you expect them to do with it? Go joyriding and harass the Drengin?

It would be nice if they did, drengin are pissing me off latly. bloody ape looking creature things dont give me a moments peace and they were ment to be my allies till the turned on me.

Probably part of their conquest strategy called "PLAN: PITA" wherein they do various things to simply annoy the shit out of you. Highlights of PLAN: PITA include sending colony ships to scoop up obscure class-1 worlds you missed in the heart of your civilization for no damn good reason, move an entire wing of 1 parsec/turn fighters slowly and arduously through your territory so they get in the way and block everything, and harassing you with crappy trade offers, but treat any obscure tech you want from THEM like weapons-grade Plutonium.

nope, i took those class 1's. no point in letting them go to waste. but my game went whacko long ago.

hell the terrans must either be incredably brave or stupid, they saw what i did to the drengin when they decared war on me.

i was out gunned, out numbered, they lost all battles that came between us.

Commander: you cant just go round fighting aliens

LostHero: well they put up a good fight for a superior race

  Commander: THEY WERE WHAT!

LostHero: Weren't superior for long, i killed them off.

he he he, they sure regreted it. they did ask for a peace treaty but i rejected them and killed them off. i'm a bad, bad man.

Thanks for all the help...

I got one thing wrong, they were the 'Andians'.

I was trading with them since they were in my territory and they had tonns of money as a result of my trade. I did not want to loose them to a majour race since my influence would soon destroy my trade! and i already had tonns of trading starbases set up.

They were at war with the Alterians and still could not move any of the ships i gave them, however they could move their own ships. Also the Alterians had heaps of fleets in the area but did not hunt down the ships i gave very agressively at all?? there would be like 3 Alterian fleets sitting right next to a ship i gave over, and it would take them like 10 turns to decide to attack it?

I ended up deciding to surround the Andians with my own ships to prevent them being taken over. Once the Andians got surrounded, the Alterian fleets became innactive, which is normal behaviour. I continued selling ships to the Andians untill they were powerful enough to gain a peace treaty with the Alterians.

Next the Andians declared war on a weak majour race,, and with their planet now unblocked, they sent out invasion fleets... however they still did not move any of the ships i gave them???

After returning to play the next day, i loaded the game and that triggered another strange event... All the ships i gave to the Andians magically teleported themselves into two squares and formed fleets! Then they continued to be stuck in that location, even after going to war with the powerful Drengin empire!!?

Oh there was one other wird thing in this game... All the mminor races used the same creature pic? even the three random spawn minors used the same creature? You know, that blockhead dude that looks like the love child of a rock and a pile of dung.

?... do you mean that they are the same picture but different colour? coz that can be changed.

Yes, all the minor races had the same picture, and i have never seen that happen before?

i have... most have the same basic picture, just different colours. some are unique like the Dark Yor, Snilth and carnoinians.
