Help me develop my strategy please :)

Hey people

heres the deal see, im getting DA on friday (living in Sweden if you care), so naturally im thinking up my grand stratagem.

Im of course making a custom race, which is going to focus on improving my Ships, Economy and Trade (if trade isnt as ludicrously expensive in terms of cost as it is in DL, and by that I mean ability-point wise). Ill have Super Manipulator as my super ability.

Now, this involves quickly researching an economic and productional base while letting the cloest enemy grab his pants full of planets, but ill have several. While hes gotten his planets pacing up and working to be beneficial, ive allready done so but focused on social - research and when ive got that laid down, ill lay 98% to military production. Ill of course have a production world. The idea is to take a portion of my cloest neighbour, force a peace and then quickly set up trade routes with this civilization.

Now for stage 3. While my Puppet Shield (PS from now on) is quite large in planets, ill be more easily defendable and such. Ill then continue to rob the PS' income from the trade (and of course, ill require that little extra fee for independence ) and force it into wars against others (somewhat secretly supplied by me - but ill only give ships, not any technology. And these ships will be just subpar of the target's ships to prevent the PS from actually winning the war, it must not get any ambition) simply to deplete much of the resistance for me to easily mop it up and expand.

Stage 3 completed, move on to stage 4. Now is the time to end the life of my PS - but not through me. I must never reveal my hand! I will force the PS into wars with around 3 other civs but not supply it with anything. This means I can quickly set my hungry... umm... whiskers, or mouth, as I will play the ''cousin'' race of the Arceans, the Sorceans, with the alternative picture . Err, anyway, that means I can set my hungry whisker/mouth on the PS' former territory. By now however they will surely form a coalition against me, and I will send another victim-faction upon them to deplete their forces further while only defending my own territory from surprise attacks.

Needless to say, at this point I can safely unseal myself as the true driving motive behind some of the galactic events!

I havn't bought DA yet either but i hear the custom races are a little on the crapola side of things. Some elite players still love custom races though so don't count them out altogether.

Personally, when i get DA i am going to play as Arcean for that first strike ability... i think i can exploit that ability quite nicely!!

Hi!
Help me develop my strategy please

Ugh! I could easily write you 10 pages of advices, and would still not be even close to covering every possible path. Way too many variables and such.

Since you wrote a pretty detailed grand strategy, I assume you have some knowledge of the game. So I'll just suggest you to start a normal difficulty game (sub-optimal AI with 75% economy) in medium to large all-abundant universe with 4-6 opponents and some minors, and simply learn the game by playing. Just don't buy too much at the start. Those starting 5000BCs are for quick-ramping your HW and bridging the financial hole your new colonies will made until they became self-sufficient financially.

Even if you'll totaly own by the AIs, keep playing to get familiar with all technologies and most game mechanics. You'll need that kowledge at your next game on different difficulty.
