Can I get a refund????

Seriously I should not have to deal with months and months of a game that does not work. Unfortunately for you I understand it is not your problem, but nvidia doesn't care and Toshiba does not care so you are the only person I can complain to. I cannot find out from Nvidia when they will release quadro drivers so I can actually play this game without it locking up. When I purchased this game I did so assuming it would work because you list the system requirements which according to the list I meet. Currently, the game does not work if you have a quadro card and I think you should post that somewhere!

So can I get my money back? Can someone maybe post when will a quadro driver come out it has been 3 months for goodness sakes.

I don't know, does nVidia give refunds on their cards?

If you bought the game from us, then yes, you can get a refund.

Well that is just completely stupid on nVidia's and Toshiba's part. Kudos to Frog for basically fixing their mistake.

P.S. I have to admit, I was expecting this to be much worse than it was. I.E. 'ZOMG!!11! Why can't I play online?!! WTFXORZ!! gimme my money back!' I am glad that it is a truly legitimate problem, and I am also sorry that this is a problem for you. Also, what card are you using and what operating system? Maybe someone has the same or very similar card and has a link to a driver or some of us can browse around to try help you.

I posted earlier on this and was told that I am basically out of luck until Nvidia does something. I run vista ultimate, but the problem, as I understand it, is with Nvidia. I used to love Nvidia, but the fact that I cannot get a driver for 3 months, nor have any way to contact Nvidia makes me very frustrated. I think I am convinced to never get Nvidia again. This might not mean much except that I contribute to the purchasing decisions for the company I work for, and my company makes the purchase decisions for about 2000 clients.

But I guess the real problem is that Stardock made a kicking game. Every so often I can play for about an hour so I keep restarting over and over in the hopes to get a game that will run for awhile. Now if I didn't enjoy the game it would sit on a self and you would never hear from me.

ALL I WANT TO DO IS PLAY 1 or 2 games!

P.S. I only have this Toshiba because it was given as part of a Tap program, but if Toshiba is going to use Nvidia then I will go with another company for my future purchases.

There are unofficial Nvidia drivers at www.guru3d.com

No guarantee that it will solve your problem, and there's no guarantee that it will be stable either. Make sure to back up your current driver.

Following along with this, I am about to buy a new computer, and some things about Vista really interest me. What can I use other then nVidia that will actually work with this game? I think that ATI or something similar would work, but specifics I am not sure about.

Another good place for unofficial Nvidia drivers. I am not sure if they have what you are looking for, but it might be of some use if you posted your problem on their forums. They know what they are talking about and are really helpful. Like I said, I am not sure if they have what you need, but it is worth checking out I think.

I too was going to mention tweaksrus, there are great, i don't use Nvidia drivers at all i just tweaks for updates. I swear by them.

I hate not being able to contact a company for support.... at least i can console myself in the hope that they can make a cheaper product by not having to employ people to communicate with customers.

On the other hand you have companies like Microsoft that do have the support but you cannot access it without first getting an anti pirating rectal exam!! Your lucky even with legal software that the codes you enter will actually work! I have legal microsoft software, but still get rejected for support online, i have to call by phone.

I may be overly critical being in the tech field. MS support isn't a problem I have an in there.

Maybe I just need to partner up with a vid company

As for vista I like it, BUT I do not play alot of games nor run any old software. The likelyhood of vista causing issues is directly related to the age of your software. If you are looking at a vista system then a 1 gig of ram dual core and a 128 gig vid card. Ofcourse I am suggesting you use ATI vs Nvidia.

On a side note office 2007 has a pretty big interface change so keep that in mind if you go that route.

Now if I can get my veggie tales DDR pads to work with vista I will be a happy.

Garvielloken had the answer!!!!

So I went to tweakers and did some searching and sure enough I finially found a tweeked driver that took care of the problem!!!!!

I can actually play the game!!! Now I am tired, very very tired for staying up soo late.

For what it's worth, ATI under Vista isn't the answer either. Vista is a new operating system, with a completely rewritten OS underneath. It's not surprising that there are serious issues with driver compatibility out of the box. Add to that the fact that Vista is really not complete (they're already compiling SP1, apparently), and you have a recipe for disaster.

Honestly, the answer is, "Don't play games under Vista." I'm a little surprised that, as a techie, you didn't know that.

Most stores will take back unopened software within two weeks with a 25% re-stocking fee. You have no idea of how many crap games I've simply thrown out over the years. I kind of figure the true cost of a decent game is about ten times it's actual value because that's usually how many games I have to buy and throw away before I find one worth playing.

In Australia, I can return an opened game for a refund or exchange (within two weeks). And games which pass this period can be sold games trading stores. It's great.

Actually, I got fairly lucky the last go round, I only bought GalCiv2 and MOO3 before I found a keeper in GalCiv2. I think I still have my copy of MOO3 if you want it, I'll check when I get home tonight. As far as I could tell the point of the game is to press the turn button until the end of the game at which point you could see how well your governors did.

MOO3 was money well spent in my opinion. It was the GC1 ad in the MOO3 box that put me on the path to where I am today

Hey Kryo, just a quick ? here. Cari didn't respond regarding what 'good' frame rates would be. I'd stated elsewhere that with the newest beta I'm getting 68 to 75 fps... is this what we should 'expect' to see or what? Just thought I'd ask as I am starting to actually get into more technical 'details' in a way...

If your refresh rate is 75Hz (decent chance it is), then 75 is the most you're going to get, or at least notice. But yes, that's a pretty decent framerate. Since GC2 isn't big with action, anything above 30 would probably be more than sufficient for most people to not notice any issue.

nVidia Quadro graphic cards are designed for professional CG (computer graphics) workstations, NOT for gaming computers.
so, giveup your waiting for a official game compatible driver.

MOO3 was money well spent in my opinion. It was the GC1 ad in the MOO3 box that put me on the path to where I am today

I checked and I have the box, the two CD's, the manual and the glossy keyboard shortcuts foldout. No GC1 ad, although it does have a promo for Civ III on both the back of the box and the CD jewel case. It was $9.99 and a total waste of money IMHO. I bought GalCiv2 the same day for $39.99 and based on cost per hour spent playing the game or cost per bug fixed or any other usage based metric you want to choose, GalCiv2 is by far the cheapest game I've ever played.

BTW if anyone wants my MOO3 copy you can PM me with your address. I'll happily pay the postage.
