Try checking file permissions on the WindowBlinds folder.

Open the WindowBlinds Configuration screen and click on View my system information.  Copy/paste that info here.

It may be a problem with access to the WB directory. Made sure it is accessible from your account.

I have the same problem too but no one will give me a clear solution and stardock customer support won't respond to my emails.

Does ANYONE have a solution to our WindowBlinds problem on Vista Premium?

This may be the source of your problem....your graphics card may be below WB5 requirements.

I almost bet there is apple software on these systems... heheheeee
that and a few other apps installed wrong too!
Vista will do a lot of stuff wrong - when there is a good reason.
Check your logs for system errors and app loading erors.
If it comes back to some of the system 32 files. Then your Vista needs to be reinstalled.
This time be sure to not just put any apple software or something that was related to the log file reports.
[Inspect the log very well... it is your only key as to why what is in the programming that has gone wrong]

good luck

Look at this link and besure to notice what works and what is said to be compatible...
There is a big difference in the wording. I like the way they fool people with it!

If your graphics score is that low with that video card the first thing I would do is make sure you have the absolute latest Vista driver from ATI. I have a reasonably fast Nvidia card and the MS driver scores a 1.5 or so, but when I installed the Nvidia driver it went up to 4.6 for desktop and 4.7 for gaming.

The MS drivers for a lot of cards are absolute cr4p.

The MS drivers for a lot of cards are absolute cr4p.

Those "MS drivers" which you call cr4p are only provided as a service by Microsoft. They are provided TO Microsoft FROM the manufacturers, generally as interim drivers until they release the full updated drivers for their respective products. It is always prudent to check the manufacturer's website for updated drivers rather than relying upon what came with the O/S, whether it is Win 98, XP or Vista.

PLEASE report all this information when submitting a problem report. We don't know what's in that Dell you bought last July. Per-pixel skinning requires your hardware has WDDM drivers and a graphics experience score of at least 2

The "shareware" version has a time limit. After this time period you will only be able to use the windows classic theme. If you wish to continue with being able to use the great skins and the WindowBlinds program, you will need to purchase it.

I have Vista Ultimate. It does the same thing, and I'm running Dreamscapes. If that is the only problem you're having, you don't have a problem. If you want it to be in "Aero", right click on the desktop, click personalize, then Windows Color and Appearance. Then click Open classic properties and appearance, and set it to Aero. When you do that, it'll last until the next time you start you're computer. Every computer changes to Windows Classic when you apply a WB.

I fixed my problem and I have restarted my computer 3 times to test it and I do not have to turn off anything. the problem appears with stardock central and windowblinds when I installed 5.51.025 (the latest upgrade) I uninstalled windowblinds and then uninstalled stardock central the applied the classic theme, and restarted my computer the I installed stardock central and then installed windowblinds. and restarted my computer it worked I was able to intall a skin again Hooray I don't know if it will help anyone else but I hope so. I restarted my computer two more times to make sure it still worked so far it is running great. good luck

that is exactly what is happening to me. The only way I can get my Vista Areo back it to load WB6 again. If I unload it I can go back to Vista Areo but as soon as I reboot I am back to Vista basic theme with no Areo to choose from.
I am getting no help from Stardock support. Not even a 'we are working on that'.

I have a similar problem. Haven't found a solution yet...sigh

When I go to Control Panel\Personalization It is always defaulted to Windows Standard. When I try to apply Aero, and go back, its back at Windows Standard. Any ideas why this is, or what I am missing?
