What's the funniest thing you have seen on these forums?

Quirky comment, smart arse response, what got you giggling?

Hi all, after spending the last year or more as a frequent user on this forum i got to thinking. As useful as this forum is in GalCiv talk, i have found it to be a great place to find a laugh or two as well. Be it a quirky comment in an AAR or an off topic subject or even the many, many smart ass responses/posts, i have found myself having quite the chuckle, something i did not expect to find here, and have not seen on other game forums. (Rise of Nations comes to mind here....sigh!)

So, what got you laughing......

For me, it was a recent post from Wheeloffire, in a locked thread about some web snafu. His rant had me in stitches, i won't elaborate, it is locked after all, but his wonderful and frequent use of "Stupid Motherfracker" had my laughing for some time, and it has had a lasting effect.

Stupid Motherfracker has been in my vocabulary since and always brings a smile to my face when i say it.

So what say you all, what has had you in stitches?

Neilo.

Never a dull momement when the Wheel was turning....

I laughed when Wheeloffire got banned.

If you like. Personally i thought he was as funny as hell. And that's not to say i had never locked horns with him either, but he did keep some of the naive, take life to seriously, stupid frackin motherfrackers on their toes.....

I don't recall locking horns with him at all, when did he get banned and for how long?

He sounds like somone who says the kind of things we all would like to say from time to time but are too polite?

Just recently and as i understand it, for life.

It is in the thread link i posted earlier, with the poem.

i looked at the link neilo, looks like he said somthing that got wiped.

Anyway, he is free to buy galciv again, get a new code and sign in again with a new identity,,, if he hasn't already done that!

No, it's not wiped. It's the post linked at Neilo's post on this thread.

The guy basically said what I myself thought, but I wasn't rude enough to say it myself.

RIP, Wheel. I hope there can be some kind of resurrection.

Would you buy the program again, just to get into the forums? If he does that, the fire burning his wheel is much hotter than I imagine.

hehehehe, well you might buy the game again as a way of apologising for past mistakes, besides, loosing money to Stardock so they can use it to make improvements to such a great game is no sacrifice at all.

Well, mess up, repeatedly, you deserve punishment.

What you see as "messing up" i see as a great laugh. If every one in the world was Ned bloody Flanders it would be a boring life to live......

Probably the funniest thing that I saw was a certain individual complaining that Mega Events are to over powered and that they caused him to lose 3 of his last 5 games. The punchline? At the time of his post his Meta record was 5 wins, 97 losses. 'Nuff said.

The hilarity may be found here: WWW Link

why would you post losses?? Why would you even continue a loosing game till the end? Didn't the world learn anything at all from Hitlers pointless last stand? See, the French know how to give up, so i dunno why Hitler didn't learn from their example? (toungue in cheek)

Well, if you see that you'll loose early in the game, restart. But if you loose it after several hours, I submit the loss as well. Limited free time means I usually only have time for one long game on a weekend, so I want that time counted somehow.

Plus I think posting a hard-fought loss is a sign of accepting and admitting that you lost fair and square. Nothing to do with pointless. If you surrender, it counts as a regular military defeat, you don't need to play until your last planet is gone.

Hey now! I resemble this remark! As you might have noticed for my meta submits they are ALL losses... As my empire name states, there are 'standards' to uphold, even in the 'competition' that is the metaverse. First of all it wouldn't be fair of me to post only wins, at least not in my opinion. Second, I play to have fun, period. If I end up getting my ass kicked, oh well, it's just a game and even at that, sometimes it is quite entertaining to see how long I can fend off the hordes of invaders at my doorstep. It adds to the challenge, the fun factor and the replayability.

Hmmm well perhaps that is what Hitler thought towards the end?? That is, if life is just a game we play???

some of Brad's dev journals are really funny; especially the one where he described what he'll be able to do with AI once multi-core processors are mostly common (i'm too lazy to link it). i've noticed Stormbring and Cornhusker can be pretty good with words, and some of the AARs can be pretty funny.

you mean the BS in that thread got him banned? that's just sad that it snowballed that far.
