Custom race - always the same basic abilities

I am realtively new to the game. Whenever I go to create a custom race, and reset the abilities counter to 10, I am left with
Soldiering +25
Loyalty +10
Logistics +6

Anyway I can pick different starting stats?

In Dread Lords the Custom Race gets a few 'free' abilities, namely those, to help even it out with the other races a bit since everyone only gets 10 points to spend. You can change the free abiliities only by modding the Raceconfig.xml data file or the .raceconfig files under My Docs\My Games\GalCiv2.

In DA, the Custom Race gets no "starting" abilities, but recieves 15 ability points, and you can choose your Super Ability, which are fixed for in-game races. Still isn't enough to balance it with the hunkier preset races (customized Yor ROCK!), but it gives considerably more design flexibility.
