Refars Starforge: Space AAB Kit & Starfleet Kit

I have moved in to I-Mod-Productions so you can find this and all future releases along with the news, if any, there in my thread. I will of course regulary visit this Forum as well.

While there are some meshes around, they are complete Hulls. I allways felt, that this way is loosing some of the possibilities, the GalCiv2 ship builder has to offer. After waiting for quite some time, for someone to make hull parts, i decided to do it myself...

The intention here is, to provide jewelry parts which can be mixed and matched with other jewelry to create new Hulls. The textures are not "realistic"-Trek. I went for the GalCiv2 overall look, while keeping some elements of the original Star-Trek design to make the parts recognizeable. It also features full Race colors.

For now it is only the Excelsior class, wich parts of course can be used to create the Centaur and some othe canon 'Kitbashes' as well. I am considering doing some other hulls in the future.

This comes as a mod, instructions on installation, hints on how to connect parts to get the original excelsior, etc are included in the Readme. When it is more complte, i will probably submit the stuff to the library.

Have fun kitbashing - i hope

I can't wait to try it out.

This has awesome potential, I for one am waiting with anticipation for future releases.

Outstanding!!!

I've always hoped for something like this

If someone can point me out a better way to put the stuff in the game, without overwriting some existing content, i will gratefully take the advice.

The mods folder is actually the preferred method, so it's just fine as is.

Refar07 - Very nice parts!

If you are looking for somewhere to upload your mod (in sections if you wish) please consider the Cybertron Shipyards.

At the shipyards you can upload to the server yourself and retain full control over the mod and any other you upload. You can even have your own section if you wish or upload to the public area if you would rather.

I'm gonna download this and give it a go. If it's compatible with Kyros mod then there'll be some nasty looking ships!

Well Drengin and Stefan have done it, so I will too!

Another place you could host this mod is TBS Modder.

We offer hosting, tutorials and a forum with you as moderator. We offer this for any and all mods. Anyone is welcome to join .

Well besides whoring each others pages out....
I gave this a try and thought it was great, I look forward to seeing more stuff.
I like how you tried to get it to fit with the vanilla galciv art.

One thing though, would you be able to move the chinese(?) script off the textures?
Looks a bit odd if you're using the parts for aliens

Funny - this was the exact reason why i choose chinese: i did not wanted to put something as easy recognizeable as "USS Excelsior" to it, and without script at all it looked kind of odd as well

As soon as i am finished doing some minor adjustments to the mapping (after seeing the Normal Map in action at my friends computer - my video card seem not to support it), i will do a clean version of the final texture.

I did try to remove the Chinese myself, but I've never been able to implement the colour changing options... I've only figured out normal maps and spec lighting so far.
I guess it would look a little odd without some kind of text, unless you perhaps continued the red lines all the way around the saucer section?

Either way, that's only a minor thought, and something that can be easily ignored.. it's fantastic work and i've already found loads of uses for the parts. It really is fantastic work and somewhat inspired

I really can't wait to see some more releases.

This is a great mod. I've installed it in Kyros (kryos?), minus the mod description xml of course, and it works. Didn't have time to build a proper ship, but at least I know I can now.

Are you going to put other ship parts in it?

I do plan to make more parts in the future, yes. A Galaxy/Nebula is in the works.

For now i updated the Excelsior to her final (so i hope) state fixing some issues with the normal map (e.g. the distortion on the sucers edge) and made the normal map a bit weaker as well. There are also a couple of new hardpoints on the dorsal surface. The datafile is unchanged, so you can just replace the model/texture files.

@Dragoon (and other who might be interested) - i included two alternativ versions of the texture - one using more alien looking script and one without any script at all - just choose which one you like and rename it.

While the Work on the Galaxy has been a bit frustrating, i decided to take a break and do a ship which blueprints have been waiting on my harddrive for some time now. It is rarely found in any mod - despite it is good looking and comes from a good show. So here it ist...

The ISSCV from Space: Above and Beyond (SAAB)

Get it at here, at I-Mod, if you like.

It comes as a kit again. The Files go to the Mod-Folder of your Choice, the Parts show up in the Ship Designer under "Extras->General". More detailed instructions are included in the readme.

I love that ISSCV. Any chance to make some more Above and Beyond models? I'd love to make a mashed up chiggy race to conquer!.
Hmmm... i only have good reference for the Hammerhead. Only very few pictures of the Chig-fighters and virtually nothing on the capital ships... I am afraid this will be not enough to stuff out a full race.
selfmade? wow respect cool work!
I didn't mean for you to do the race, I'd do that with jewelry parts and my own imagination. I was just wondering if you were planning on making some of the other ships. I've got some good diagrams of the Hammerhead and a Chig fighter that would be fairly easy to create models from. I know I've got the blueprints for the Saratoga (carrier) somewhere too, if you'd want them.

It's not a big deal, just wondering if you had any more ideas from that particular universe.
My ideas/areas of interest tend to change pretty fast Which is quite unfortunate when it comes to larger projects This is the main Reason i do not try bigger mods

But for now i would be quite interested to do some S:AAB stuff, so if you can find the Saratoga blueprint, there is a good chance i would acutally do it
Reply #21 Top
hhmmm, I've got the side view, and parts of the hull (including a section of the top down, but I can't seem to find any of the others. It's more than enough to go on, or at least do a good job that no sane person would complain about. You'd have to take a little artistic liscense though.

If you want it, let me know where to send the pics (I can post them on imageshack if you want, but it'd be better quality to e-mail them. The pics even have scale reference to the ISSCV and Hammerhead if you're compulsive.
Would be great to have this Pics I sent you a PM with the eMail adress

Btw. does someone know a reliable way to put pictures up here ? You mentioned imageshack ?

The prvider i used so far - geocites - seems to peroidically block the images/files - even through they do not explicitely forbid hotlinking
Reply #23 Top
I found a great Saratoga and Hammerhead model. (as well as many other ships)for the game X3: reunion. I know that it's not anywhere near as simple as a direct port over, but at the very least if you're still looking for inspiration, you could ask the author for the original files so you can build from them.

Warning - this isn't a slow internet friendly site

Looks nice

I am halfway to finish the hammerhead myself (painting the textures now), so i will not be mothballing it now But maybe i can ask the guy's there if they allow me to use the saratoga.

Besides Kryo's hull mod the Excelsior kit is the most useful mod I've ever downloaded. Thank you! Separate parts definitely beat 'single hull'.

Thank you! And... More please!
