Help me figure out my research and the asteroid bonus

I can't seem to make the numbers line up

Alright, I am just curious about this, and maybe there is some mouse-over in the game (like for military/morale) that tells me how this is all figured out.

Okay, I have 8 research centers on the planet at 10tp each (what does that stand for anyway? test tube production?)

I am getting 87 production from asteroids

The planet has a 33% bonus to research after several events.

It has a 10% production bonus

My race has 96% to research

I am 100% labs, 100% spending

and I get 239 beakers per turn.

I know that's not a lot, but it's not my research planet either, just my home world.

I just can't seem to crunch the numbers anyway that makes much sense. Could you please help me figure that out?

So that's problem number 1.

I haven't built my manufacturing capital yet because I am not quite ready to flip. There are two contenders, my home world, which as mentioned gets the 10% bonus and 87 production from mines and a world with a precursor mine (700%) but no asteroids, it also just has a 10% bonus both are the same PQ.

My race is only 30% to military and 30% to social.

Heh, I am almost ready to flip and instead of replaying a big chunk of game to see which would have been better I would humbly request some assistance

Thanks a bunch.

Hi!

AFAIK one flips when he has researched most of the tech tree. Why would you like to flip in mid-game?

candidate for manuf. capital

By all means use the planet with precursor mine. You can also redirect resources from asteroids to that planet. However you can use a secondary planet for ship production, and that can easily be the HW with Civ capital and 3 asteroid mines.

TP stands for Tech Points.

I just can't seem to crunch the (tech production) numbers anyway that makes much sense.

Neither can I. Do you have focus on research, or any econ starbase with production modules close?

The reason why I would flip now is that the AI did such an amazingly poor job during this game that it has been over for a while. I am probably 65% of the way through the tech tree, and even with 100% labs I have been outproducing the AI by a substantial margin, most planets don't have any fighters defending them much less fleats and just looking for something to keep me occupied while I research I have taken two civs. It's a medium map, I only play medium, loose clusters and common stars, planets and habitable planets. There just aren't many ships needed with a substantial enough tech edge to end it, and it doesn't take that long either.

I think I drew a rare asteroid field map because only the home systems have asteroids, there is not a single field anywhere else on the map so there are no asteroid resources to direct to the precursor planet which is all the way on the other side of the map from my home world. I don't mind this as having separate production areas really speeds up the cleanup process.

I guess I just don't understand how asteroids factor into equation for calculating production on the planet, which I already can't really figure out. I want a detailed tab over for military, social and research like with influence and morale.

87 asteroids outproduces the type of factory I would lay down on the precursor mine, marginally, assuming it is just like 87 factory points but it's the manufacturing capital, I am not sure if asteroids are multiplied by planet bonuses and race bonuses.
