Dread Lords in Dark Avatar Campaign

I am looking for knowledge on how the dread lords work and for strategies against them in the DA campaign.

I know they do not operate like other civs because you cannot see graphs on them or talk to them. Their tiny population wouldn't support their colony square, much less industrial sectors and their fleet of suped-up warships. It could be done by starting cash I suppose but you would figure at some point the dread lords would just run out of money. Anyone had that happen? I also wonder if spying does much good, I can't seem to steal any techs or stop them from building ships even if I plant spies in all their industrial sectors. This makes sense if they operate entirely off their start up cash, they could just buy ships. That's about all I have gathered about them so far.

The Dread Lords have absolutely huge bonuses in many abilities, including economy. Since they use the highest-end buildings though, it takes them a while to get factories up and ramp up their ship production.

They seem to obtain everything at max., I hardly could take their planet 'cauze they had about 30 soldiering instead of my 7....I've never seen ships of them I don't want to...

i got a report once and it said:
My Economy: 35
Dread Lord Economy: 505!
So i guess they also have incredible millitary bonus, and invasion bonus to help them take over the galaxy.
no population growth bonus.
millitary production bonus.
and a few other bonus.

Man there strong though. never let them start building ships, kill them early in the game.

Yup. They are very very vulnerable when they first appear. In fact, IMO, too vulnerable.

I've never let them build anything on their planet - I always take it ASAP. Costs a lot of pop to do, but it is worth it to get that plum planet.

I wish they would appear better developed - then their appearance may be worthy of being called a Mega event.

high five... you know what your talking about. although it is kind of fun to let them go at the start just to see them kill of the Drengin.

To clarify I was making this thread about the campaign where the player is the Drengin and the Dread Lords are not that vulnerable at the start because they start with the player.

Did anyone play through the campaign and if so what strategies did you use against the Dread Lord scenarios?

The dread lords should get the super hive ability to fix this.
