Excellent, excellent guide. Told me a lot of things I never knew about. Thanks for clearing up asteroid bonus mysteries.

One of my favorite musical scores of all time was created by Michael Z. Land for an old Lucasarts game called, "The Dig".

That game was excellent. Man, that brings back some memories...

A very fine guide. Interesting point on the economy page showing the shipbuilding expense...or should I say lack of showing that expense. Any chance of getting that expense line item added?

Good job! While reading your guide I spotted a bug that I have confirmed also exists in GalCiv II DL 1.2.

Influence/Morale Bonus Wrong on Planet Summary Screen for Bonus Titles

If you build a planetary improvement for influence/morale on an influence/morale bonus title:
(1) Planet Details screen correctly reports structure's bonus X 2
(2) Planet Summary screen incorrectly reports structure's bonus + 100%

e.g., As we see here in this Planet Summary screen, http://jeffpinard.com/Info_and_Mining.htm, it is reporting the morale bonus for the Entertainment Network built on the morale bonus title to be 5% + 100% = 105% instead of 5% X 2 = 10%.

The above screen is from GalCiv II DA but I have confirmed the bug also appears in DL 1.2.

I've emailed the above bug to [email protected] and Cari Begle.

Loads of work you did there!

A few things confused me though - I really am trying to learn here. I'm not trying to be wise here - I really assume there are reasons for what you do that have eluded me so far but are potentially relevant.

1. Why research stellar geography. You can see the suns anyway - so the planets show up when you get there, don't they?
2. Why do you start with 50% social/50% tech? Wouldn't it be better to do 100% tech till you get the social/economy bonuses and then for 100% social (also delays upkeep - you could buy your first factory in the last round of 100% tech, so you don't have to pay upkeep for it from the start.
3. What happens if you destroy a colony? Does it go PQ0 or does it stay the old PQ with no people on?
4. Does it really pay to send your first slow colony ship far into space - I thought colony ships were tax free?
5. How did you manage to turn the Space Orcas into Empire No 1?

Anyway, page thiry was really useful!

Unfortunately the link is broken. Is there some other way to reach this guide?

Dunno, maybe his site has been "screwed" somehow since the bottom auto-tag for the Full-Guide isn't responding from here either.
Give it a week or try sending this guy an eMail or somethin'... since i don't see right now where or who has a more complete guide on DA. There's always the wiki, but that has to be fixed too for the latest data & infos.
This kind of stuff is pretty hard to come by, even here on the genuine SD main site for their own game. Which is to say, they should consider creating a thorough GC/DA guide-tool also, even if i understand, they must be quite busy with the next TA expansion and its extensive new features such as the whole set of editors. Lots of work ahead and behind them(!), i guess. ;)

Is there any way I could have the guide all on one page so that I could print it? Most textual things are horrible to gawk at on screen - which is why is it so much better to have things like strategy guides in hard copy.

Thanks.

Oh and if anyone has links to more up to date or better guides - please tell me (I note that this guide is named after the first expansion not the second) - I've just found this website and don't know where things are.
