My oddest game experience yet

Ok, playing normal difficulty, with common planets and common habitable planets and 7 opponents on a medium map. Oddly enough all the planets are grouped in the middle and I was lucky enough to grab 4 habitable planets while most others have 2.

Ok, skip forward about 100 turns. Things are going well, I now have 8 planets and I'm on my way to a nice influence victory... This is where things get odd.

1st One of the races (can't remember who) gets some kind of influence bonus and now their influence is covering over 1/2 of the map. No biggie, just a random major event, kinda cool, gives me something to fight about.

2nd About 10 turns later one of the races stumbles on something that increases all uninhabited planets by 14 building squares and since all the stars are close together, EVERY planets becomes a habitable planets. I buy colony ships on all my bases and rush to claim the land. I get 8 more planets.

3rd The very NEXT turn, another race stumbles on something that increases all uninhabitable planets by 12 building squares. Now, the other planets that I didn't claim on the first round have 26 buildable squares! I build more colony ships and keep doing this until I now have about 30 planets, and most have 26 buildable squares....

CRAZY!

Wow. That is crazy. Did you still win?

Wow... That is crazy! I know I myself have played quite a few games and I have never had any race discover any of these... let alone myself discovering one. Heck, I hadn't even found a precursor mine or library until my last game.

Must be bad luck on my part.. hehe

Still in process, but things are looking good. My economy is suffering a little bit, but it was so strong for a while that I have a massive bankroll.. We'll see how things go.

Wow  , i never ever got anything like that before (then again, i haven't been playing very long). is it rary for something like that to happen?

Just finished, went the military route, I was losing some money, but I could just produce so many ships that they couldn't keep up. 10,500 points. Highest score so far (don't know how good of a score that is though )

and I dont know, I assume it's rare? But I've only played about 8 games myself so I dont know.

My current game has 1 planet (so far), that has 1 precursor mine, and, 1 manufacturing 300% tile. The only 2 bonus tiles on that planet.

game I'm playing started in gigantic map with abundant planets, and was kind of getting sick of the game, because there was like 800+ planets and I had like 300+ planets, and it was getting old. So of course in the middle of the map there was the mega-event with a whole section growing all uninhabited planets go to 13 tiles, which I had just gotten into the area killing Yor, so also expanded more and grabbed about a third of the planes that were available......

since then I have crushed 3 more races, about to crush 2 more, and have 600+ planets...

looking at an influence victory (77%), but the stupid Drengin who are about to die with 6 or so planets left won't just accept peace, meaning I have to wipe them off the map before I can win the game, since influence victory has to be peaceful with all races before you can win this way....

going to take me probably 10 or so more turns to finish off the drengin, because they have a few planets that are still kind of far away, the 5 parsec/week on a gigantic map really is a kick in the pants, so slow to get anywhere....

Drengin are easy to bet so i wouldn't worry about it
try versing altarian, man their strong. and Yor, i hve trouble with them sometimes.
there are a quite a few race who are stronger than the rest, drengin are not one of them.

I just had a very strange game.

I've been playing as Arcean in the center of a large map. Suddenly it was decided in a secret meeting that my threat has become too big or so. Result was that I got into war with nearly everyone.
I barely managed to survive using only a handful of ships (Super Warrior is incredible if used right).
Couple of turns forward: The Dreadlords arrive! Directly next to a planet where I had just finished a transporter.
Mega Event: Altarians becoming a super race with ever increasing abilities
Couple of turns forward: A new minor race next to one of my transporters
Couple of turns forward: A second new minor race next to one of my transporters
I take one Altarian planet and they surrender to me
Couple of turns forward: A third new minor race next to one of my transporters

actually I killed the altarians as the first race to die, while I was fighting 2 other races, one of them being the torrians...who I recently completely wiped out...

seems I attacked the altarrians and two other races that I was neighboring with declared war on me, only reason I ended the war with the two other races including the torrians was because I got free planets to declare peace, I gave them alot of peace time because I was going after the Yor, later ended up fighting the korx also, wiped them both out, no reprieve...

Korx declared war on the torrians and I was ally with them, so one of my only alliances I honored, gave alliance tech to 4 races, and allied them for a bit, tried for an alliance win but couldn't get drengin and few other evil races to get to close, never bothered giving them alliance since didn't want to fight them allied....

Yor pissed me because they were trying to go into my territory, basically because of the planets I couldn't colonize because I didn't have the associated research on that type of planet....so they started intruding into my influence, and that really kind of pissed me off, so before those planets got productive, I just declared war on them and they had undefended planets sitting in my area of influence, first tech I stole from the Yor was their best missile tech, kind of really put them in a bad position, and made caracals specially designed with their best tech to wipe them out......which proved very effective....

The drath started off quite powerful in terms of planets and influence, so I declared war on the altarrians and immediately got into war with the drath and Torrians, or whoever you spell them. The drath I'm at war with again and they are on the ropes, similiar to the Drengin, although the drath aren't stupid and would agree to peace unlike the drengin. I was concerned about Drengin's mass driver tech so early on a built the defender 6 that had armor agains the mass driver, and that defender 6 I made about 60 or so of them before I upgraded to the defender 7, which I'm still using...which uses the very best armor tech...defender 7 is basically a simple small ship that has a basic weapon, shield, and armor to sit on planets so they cannot be taken by unarmed transports....although the defender 7 is more upgraded so its no longer just basic, it has 5 beam, 5 shield, and 8 or 10 armor, I believe is what its set at. I tried to temper the defender series since I was making so many of them to also not be too expensive in terms of maintance cost... the defender 4 had a maintance cost of 1, but the cost started to rise in maintance cost from their, so had to temper how much I put into that ship since I didn't want to spend huge maintance cost in just having a basic ship protecting the planet...

The defender 7 series is strong enough to crush the drath by themselves, who never really worked on weapon techs....still using the basic laser 2 I gave them years ago....I really should upgrade all the defenders to defender 7, but kind of lazy about doing that work, its a pain to upgrade all individually which I did with all hte defenders built until I stopped at defender 4. Which means that I have many ships from defender 4, 5 , 6, & 7...

Because of the Defender 7 series and the pallidans ( large ships I put alot of beam and armor on to fight the drengin also), the drengins were relatively alot easier to beat than the other races I crushed....

There is an "upgrade all ships of this class" option when you are upgrading one of your ships. It's not very noticeable, but it's there.

i like to create my own ships, so i never use any premade one.

i had the weirdest game once. i played as a costom race (Roamers) thats main focus was trade and improving planets class, i always start with a class 12 planet. anyway i start to expand into the galaxy when i find the Korx (now normally id avoid them but i was desperate for income so i signed a treaty and started trade) and the strangest thing, the Korx gave me half their money and a clas 23 Planet! i'm really happy with this so i decided to send them diplomatic translators for free and they accepted and asked for an alliance. i accepted. next thing i know ive been brought smack bang in the middle of a war with the humans, and because roamers are merchants i had almost no millitary. i sent a troop ship with a few modified cargo ships (Modified to carry weapons) to escourt the transport to Mars, and before my ships engaged Mars Defences they gave up and all human planets became mine.
