Someone supplying weapons

So durring a random event the Arcean leader was killed while on tour of my worlds and they declared war on me, with an added footnote that someone else was supplying them with weapons.

Nothing to get too worried about since I control around 40% of the huge map and the rest is split between the last 4 AI races. I get taken back to the main screen and almost every square that I can see has an Arcean ship in it. Whats up with that!

I've gone to almost certain victory to a near certain death all because of somone "supplying weapons" to the Arceans. Weapons are better guns or shields not close to three thousand ships. My hope is that the Arceans cant sustain the ships for more then a few turns so I just have to watch out for transports to keep my planet safe and just write off my starbases.

Anyone else have this happen to them?

It happens fairly often.
They are very weak ships and not hard to kill, but they'll take out undefended starbases, transports and constructors if you don't get to them first. They usually only have a speed of 2 or 3, so only the closest targets are in much danger.

I also get this event quite frequently. An effect of 3000+ ships, however, I've never heard of nor seen. The biggest number I've had is around 500 or so on a large map. Your best hope is to destroy the ones that pose the biggest threat and hope the massive maintenance costs tank the Arcean economy.

Yeah they only motoring around at speed 4 and I only lost 10 or so eco stations deep behind my borders where I didnt bother to upgrade weapons/shields. On the bright side my home defense fleets going to get at least a level or two of exp clearing them out.
