The product appears to be validated but the serial number or the machine SID don't match.

Can't get GalCiv2 to work on a new computer.

I got a new computer. I copied over my old directories, and reinstalled on top of them. I never tried launching it, and continued on my reinstall spree. I since packed my CD back up. I just updated a couple of days ago and tried to run it today and get the error message:

"The product appears to be validated but the serial number or the machine SID don't match."

Looking up that up, I found some posts about deleting the sig.bin when dealing with a new Windows install. Okay, did that. Got the Serial in my email request through Stardock Central, there was only one so that is simple enough, copy and pasted that in. Stardock Central tells me the serial is invalid when I hit Update. Looking around more I see I have a the serial code that's listed in my GalCiv2 account (which is different, oddly) and same results, no luck. With either code I get the above error message if I try to launch the game. I've tried the Activate.exe, that doesn't appear to do anything.

How do I get my game to work again?

Have you verified you haven't any sig.bin file before each attempt?

BTW,  I am not sure to understand how you have reinstalled GC2.

Sorry, but it seems that he has a different problem than yours: his message indicates that he has a valid serial Id

Sound very strange. Why not try the following if you have a good broadband connexion:

- desinstall GC2 with SDC and remove associated directory

- do a serial number lookup with SDC (built-in fonction in SDC allowing to get back fill all your serial IDs in SDC)

- install the game from SDC

If you're having issues with your serial being rejected, please contact [email protected].

Yeah, each time there was no sig.bin, and no new one got created with any step. But untinstalling, deleting the game directory, and then redownloading/reinstalling from Stardock Central seems to have fixed it!

Thanks!
