DL: Do enemy agents steal from you?

Obivously in DA there is a lot of spying and counterspying going on but I was wondering if in Dread Lords, enemies steal from you? I never get a message or anything about that. This might be a silly question, but thx for thinking about it for me!

enemies steal from you?

Enemy agents will disable the buildings they are placed on until you eliminate them. I would expect that if an AI reaches a high level of espionage against you, they can steal techs the same as you can from them, but there would be no notice to you about that.

I think he was asking about the original Gal civ 2: Dread Lords. Your answer appears to be more Dark Avatar specific. I have managed to steal techs from other civs in my games, and in games where I had huge tech leads I wondered if the AI was stealing my hard won techs from me.

Ah, yep I didn't notice the DL. It's a safe assumption though that whatever you can do to the AI, they can do to you as well in any case.

which is why I like the new spy system in DA. I can control all aspects of spying, even though it's now you can get caught. If you save up some agents you can still get to advanced level espionage quite quickly by dropping them all at once. And I make sure I research counter-espionage nice and early

what exactly does counter-espionage do? being able to place one tile per city seems a high cost for preventing espionage....

counter espionage centre prevents any spies on that planet. You only need it on planets with special tiles, achievements, and capitals that the AI likes to put spies on.

Well, it also gives a 20% morale bonus, which is quite nice. More expensive (~2x, iirc) than an equiv morale building, but also less maintenance.

I experimented with it a bit last game (as in: building quite a few), and if you have the funds, it seems to work pretty nicely.

yeah forgot the morale bonus too. It actually makes it pretty useful if you need both morale and to be rid of spy problems on a planet. here is what happens without the espionage centre:

I cannot build my own spies fast enough to nullify the enemy spies even if i maxed out at 25% spending. all 4 of those planets were my major manufacturing capitals. having a spy on a 700% tile really hurts

Thanks all, this was great!
