No Mega Events

Greetings All,

I've played about 15 DA games now, most of them metaverse. Never in any of my games have I got a Mega Event. I don't think it could just be my play style. I've played all the races, and I've won influence, diplo, and (mostly) military victories. Though I've heard bad things about some of the Mega Events, I've wanted to get one just to spice things up.

Now, I've won by the skin of my teeth, and I've won by utter dominance throughout the game, so in other words I'm not playing the exact same kind of game over and over.

Anyone else not had any Mega Events in their DA games? It seems from some posts that some people have them almost every game. What gives?

You sure you got them turned on. , only joking.
Maybe it's just fate or it could be a bug. I get a few but like you said some people get a couple almost every game.

Someone said they happen more often if the game gets bogged down, Could it be your style?
Doesn't seem fair though, they are well worth having even if they can kill you overnight.

Yeah, I'm sure they're on. I've wanted them, even if I might not want them if they actually happened!

Thats surely the definition of ambivalence.
I so want a mega event, fook, why did you do that to me?
Hope you get it sorted soon, kryo is bound to be on soon, he's far the best person to help I think.

since it's random you may simply be unlucky. In my experience the mega events only happen at end game to shake up the game balance. if you're winning too quickly it may be the reason why you never seen them

Hi!
Anyone else not had any Mega Events in their DA games?

In all my games I got "spies gone nutty" event once, and "speed limit 5" once. Oh, and a Jagged knife pretty early in the game, but I reloaded the autosave game, because I lost a planet that was 2 turns before finishing Terraformer "wonder".

Well, if they're on, I'm not sure why you'd be getting none at all. Certainly if you're playing a good number of games with varying styles and outcomes, you should have encountered them.

Ive actually noticed that the mega events were tweaked from the beta(or the update, i cant remember which) Wherein they dont happen as often. Before I was getting the plague event a lot, which i kinda liked because id rush research it(throw all my resources into researching) and once ive got the tech before everyone else, id tech trade like crazy (except maybe the strongest/most evil race). Ive also gotten that darned Jagged Knife event at the very end of a game, right before I won a military victory(still won, just made it a little less glorious). I think Ive gotten the spy event a couple times, which is more annoying than anything. And the dread lords robot event or whatever it is once, which ripped my game apart. Id like some more though, perhaps some on the not so negative side.

I've gotten a fair amount of them recently. The most notable one being the Jagged Knife event in my last game. I was in a gripping war (both sides equally matched) and the Jagged Knife ended up appearing and the planets they took just happened to be in a row along my outter border (because of where the other civs were) so since I had my fleets already on the border I ended up getting 4 planets basically for free. They also took over the biggest manufacturing planet of my rival which kicked their ships off the planet and made it easy picking for me. It was great!

I've stopped using the mega events. Although I like the concept, and even the events, they tend to happen to me not to shake up a game I'm winning, but to but me in an untenable position early in the game.

For instance:

Pirates event in the first two years. There were dozens of super powerful pirates at a time when no-one had more that a 2 attack small hull. It was many, many turns before the game could proceed.

The disease event in a game where I had been forced to fight continuously for about 5 game years (curse you Drath...) and my economy was on the ropes (my spending was at 30% for about 2/3rds of that game). After the event happened, my income was negative 500 per turn with zero spending and max tax rate I could sustain with 45% approval.

So, in conclusion, my experiance is that the mega events simply ruin the game.

Ah, I didn't realize the spy event was a Mega. I guess I've had one, then!

I got the jagged knife event in the middle of a galatic war!!!! Me as the Alterians, The drath, and the Terrans as allies, against the Yor, the Korx, and the Dregin, with the Krynn just about destroyed. Everyone lost planets, and I lost 20 out of 70 planets. I was playing at challenging, large universe, abundent stars, common planets.

This made for a very interesting game, as I went for planets that my troops could reach, regardless of whom used to own them. And the AI did too! Sure redrew the map, and changed up the war. Ruined my economy too, until I took every planet I could reach. I had to trun OFF production for a couple of turns.

Made for a very interesting game.
