Ruin Relations With Others

In my current game, the Alterians are the dominant power in the galaxay (uber big military, population and # of planets). Since I'm currently allied with all the other nations but none want to go to war with the Alterians, how can I get them (Alterians) to declare war on me? (I figure the alliance system would kick in and everyone else would be at war with them too) I've tried demanding way too many things, stationed military forces around their planets and even built starbases in their territory but our relations are still at 'Warm'.

Try parking a troop ship or two right next to one of their planets.

Try demanding small things each turn (i.e. 50-100bc or whatever they will give in to).

Build more influence starbases next to his planets

Be careful about that alliance system. In my games my 'allies' usually only come to my aid when I'm already almost done with my enemy, but not sooner.
Or do you play a race with the super alliance ability?

Will Allies break their alliance to join the Altarians if he declares war?

If I understand the Altarian super ability properly then yes.

And Allies will ALWAYS come to your aid if someone declares war on you.

As for getting them to declare war on you, as has already been said placing influence starbases or troop ships next to their planets should provoke them pretty quickly. Providing you're playing at a high enough difficulty.

I haven't bought DA... yet (i've only found the gold edition). so what is the super ability?

If I understand the Altarian super ability properly then yes.

Oh yah... i forgot about starbases and troop ships   . i'm playing on sucide difficulty so they shold react.
