GalCiv II: DA Beta 1 of 1.6 in here

File within

https://www.galciv2.com/beta/gc2da16-b1.zip

For the holiday weekend, as you can imagine, our IT team is on vacation so they're not real keen on me throwing up betas onto Stardock Central.

So I've uploaded the files to the link below in a ZIP file for those who want to try it out.

You will need to unzip the files to your \galciv2\darkavatar directory replacing gc2darkavatar.exe and lib3d.dll.

Requires that you already have GalCiv II:DA 1.5X installed.

Not a new bug for sure. And it is often much more than one ship. Sometimes near the end of a game there will be a whole stack of ships sitting there, many of them for races that were already destroyed. I would get this almost every game in 1.5x.072sih.

But it is only cosmetic. And it is always in the same corner.

We found a crash that was caused by ships that were out of bounds on the map.

I know, I have a perfectly realistic answer. See, that is the risk of using hyperdirve and folding space - you can become trapped outside the normal universe, and effectively mess up and destroy the entire universe! (when the game crashes).

Well, this beta patch has eliminated a persistent bug that was causing the game to crash when I tried to continue the DA campaign after the first mission. No problems now, excellent work.

I have only noticed 1 bug so far in the beta. Whenever I stack multiple ships on 1 tile, they all disappear. I can still select them and when I move a ship I can see it again. I can also see fleets but not fleets with other fleets or single ships stacked on them. Anyone else had this happen?

Tral, I've run into the same problem. Two individual ships on the same tile will cause them to disappear. Same with ships and starbases... I thought someone had destroyed my morale-mining base, then realized it was stacked with a cruiser, causing both to vanish!

If this is happening, please send in a zipped saved game to [email protected].  Please give a brief explanation of how to reproduce the problem.

Also, if you haven't already, please open Stardock Central and make sure you have the latest version of the beta update.

I'm not getting any report of beta versions on Stardock Central. I had to install it via Frogboy's zipped file, and Stardock Central doesn't even recognize that I'm using a beta right now. Is it supposed to be giving possible updates for the beta at this point in time?

First post after purchasing GC2, then DA and lurking for 3+ months.

Started a gigantic Altarian sandbox game with the beta after backing off from the campaign due to the off-type defense bug. I'm seeing the same issue with stacked ships disappearing. After 5 years of testing for Creative Assembly, I decided to do some testing here to find out how extensive the problem was. The easiest way to reproduce is is to zoom out to 2D mode and then launch two ships from planetary orbit. If you are zoomed in, it won't work. Another way to ships to disappear is to have stacked ships move to the same location. When the first ship moves, they both become visible, but when the second moves back into a stack, they will both disappear. I've also been able to make a Starbase disappear by stacking a fleet with it. When zoomed in I haven't seen this issue.

Like Cornhusker, I downloaded the beta via Frogboy's zip. Will send the zipped savegame.

My best guess is that the issue is related to the code tweak optimizing the number of ships displayed.

im gonna be honest, im still confused about wheather im runnin the "beta" or just a late release update to 1.5 im running 1.59.078 Is this the beta? It was said earlyer in the post that inorder to get the beta you had to go to US2 server. i got this from US1 and when i swiched to US2 there was no update there. i would love to play the beta if im not already doing so.

ps. when are other betas coming out? it was also mentioned that there was going to be a series of betas for the 1.6 update. just curious. thanks for all the GREAT work!!

Your Main Menu screen should say what version you're running. I did everything (a number of times) to run the Beta from Frogboy's zip, but my computer/software is in such a state that it doesn't want to run it. So I'm still running the latest DA, as far as I can tell. I'd love it if this Beta were available via Stardock, so that it could install properly on my machine.

At least could someone tell me whether the Beta is supposed to be on Stardock? My system isn't showing it as a possible download.

The devs are working on them, but no ETA yet.

Yes 1.59.078 is 1.6b1, however there were issues with SDC updating the version number without actually updating the game properly for the beta patch (thus the download Frogboy posted). I do not know if this has been solved yet. As Cornhusker said, the game itself should indicate which version of the files you actually have in the corner of the main menu screen.

I have the same issue with Ships disappearing when zoomed out to Tactical Mode.

I'll send in a save game tonight if still needed.

Also, some ships are there, but they do not go to their stylized 2D Icons - instead they stay at 3D - and are so tiny you cannot see them until you zoom in again to 3D view.

Ditto for me here as well. Not a big deal really, but if you don't watch where you park a few ships...

I just now installed the beta via SDC. It is showing up as 1.6b1.

Hello,

I've just downloaded DA 1.6 Beta 1 on the recommendation of Cari Begle to solve a bug I had with the current stable/production. I've been playing with the beta for a few hours and I had an other bug. I've been able to catch the crash/exception related files with SmartException.

Is there a place to submit bug reports for the beta ? [email protected] ? [email protected] ?

SE reports should to to [email protected] with description of the issue, what you were doing, your debug.err, and anything else relevant.

I am running .078 according to SDCentral. In game it is reported as 1.50x3

Also, while I'm here; don't know if anyone has suggested this or not yet, but I'd love to have the planet type (i.e. Toxic, HeavyGrav, and the like) and their state (red, yellow, or green) reported in the spreadsheet view of Colonies list. Would really help in seeing what to research next. Please

There was an issue with SDC updating the number but not the game. You can get the actual 1.6 beta files in the download linked at the top of the thread.

Tral, I've run into the same problem. Two individual ships on the same tile will cause them to disappear. Same with ships and starbases... I thought someone had destroyed my morale-mining base, then realized it was stacked with a cruiser, causing both to vanish!

I confirm this bug. I'm playing DA 1.6beta1 and I've got the same problem.

Yes, I am running the beta and have the same bug occuring. Otherwise, no other problems.

I think the new mini map work in this beta may have introduced a new (minor) bug.

When I am in the governor manager screen and I highlight an item from the middle column it no longer highlights the relevant locations on the mini-map. For instance, if I am on the starship construction selection and I click on a warship, it used to highlight all the planets building that model of warship. Now it doesn't.

Can anyone else with the new beta confirm this?

If so, I'll send in a bug report.

Edit: This is actually beta 2. Reposting over there.
