how does gold edition compare to reg GalcivII?

I owned Galactic Civ II, and loved it ... UNTIL the gliches set it. Each time I started the game, it took longer and longer to load, especially with games far in progress. The screen pixelated. AND, when I got to a certain point, the game just froze.

SO, does the gold edition fix these problems? Is it smooth and playable, or annoyingly riddled with basic software problems like the old one???

GC2 Gold includes the latest version of GC2, plus the Dark Avatar expansion.

Looking back at your past posts, you started two threads in April 06 about issues with saving the game, but never provided any further details, and did not post about any other issues. If someone else did report the same issue (with details) then it is a safe bet that it was likely fixed (I know I've never had any such issue with savegames at least); if not, well, problems can't be fixed if the devs don't know about them, as you might imagine.

The simplest way to find out is to just get the 1.4x patch from the downloads page and see for yourself. If you do still encounter issues, then by all means please do post details when asked, so they can be addressed.

Here are some details for the problems I had in GalCiv2:

The further I was in a game, the longer it took to upload it. If a game were really far along, the upload could take over five minutes! Ahhh!!!!

The mini-screen showing the bar graph of the races' rankings pixelated periodically.

Sometimes, especially in a far along game, the entire game locked up, requiring the computer to be turned off.

Have these been addressed?
