NO!!!! Why Stardock Why????

I still love you guys, but I just want to give up!

I have been trying to get the latest DA version on my laptop (which currently only has DL) - but it was taking forever. I have an unstable 56k wireless connection that doesn't often stay connected for longer than half an hour.

Anyway, after almost 16 hours of connecting, downloading a little, disconnecting, restarting SDC, re-starting the download, I had over 16 hours managed to get to 92% complete on the install.

Then I disconnected again (as I'm used to). I reconnect, re-log into SDC, re start downloading the expansion... and the install reset to 0%?!?!? Now I need to lose another 20 hours of my life babysitting my laptop while I try and install this sucker. Where did that 92% go? Is it hidden in a temporary file somewhere that I can recover. Did my few seconds of downloading 0% complete erase all of those previous hours of downloading?

Please, Kryo, anyone, tell me there is someway I can recover the 92% I had already downloaded for this application.

Please, pretty please.... I'm so demoralized right now.

Personally I'm surprised it kept anything between exiting and restarting SDC--as far as I knew it would only continue if SDC was kept open.

Honestly, if you're in such a position that you can't reliably download it, I'd recommend just getting a disc sent or taking your laptop someplace with wifi to get it faster and without all the headache.

Is het not possible to make an 56k edition? Make it downloadable in .rar/>iso files of a couple of MB. Collect them all and unzip/rar them!

Does the disk have the patched version? Is this a question for sales?

The disc has the initial release, but if you can get that much, the patch should be no problem to download. Just email [email protected] and ask about upgrading your download purchase to a disc ($5 in US, $10 international to ship it, no other cost).

Resuming broken downloads is an age old concept now and you would expect it to be a standard feature, i'm suprised it is not??

Only the windows downloader is dumber!

When I first downloaded the beta, I had major issues with the download speed. It would start out just fine, but after a short time the speed would drop to ~1or2 kb/sec. If I shut down, and started again, I could get the good speed again, (at least for awhile) I probably went through this 15 or 20 times, sometimes completely shutting down the computer for a quarter hour or more. Surprised the heck out of me that it resumed perfectly each time. Surprised me even more that the game worked like a charm first time, with no corrupt files. I had a much easier time with the release version.

SDC should resume transfers whether you exit gracefully or not. If it didn't, it may be because it believed the download file was corrupted.
