Modified files not working

I followed the modding guide and placed modified AbilityBonuses.xml and RaceConfig.xml into the default mod folder and told the game to use the mod, but the changes do not take affect.

Suggestions?

Are you sure you enabled mods? And where exactly within the mod foder structure did you put the files?

I am sure I enabled it.

I put them in the data folder, that didnt work.

So then I just left them outside of any subfolders in the Default Mod folder, and, of course, still doesn't work.

If placed in Mods\Default\Data, it should work. If it doesn't, the most sensible explanation is that it is simply not enabled.

Also make sure that if you have DA or if you were putting them in the Mods folder under My Documents, they need to be in the Mods folder in GC2's install location (by default under program files).

Also, note that unless you changed the race's names, they may be overwritten by the raceconfig files in My Documents\My Games\Galciv2. You will need to delete those to see any changes from RaceConfig.xml.

Hmm. Ok. I found my error - I thought DA was looking in GalCiv2/Mod, not GalCiv2/DA/Mod.

So now the changes in the Abilities XML take affect, but not those in the RaceConfig.xml. Was there anything else that had to be done with RaceConfig other than just plopping the XML in the mod folder?

As above, but delete the .customracexml files in My Docs\My Games\GC2DarkAvatar.
