Just downloaded Dark Avatar Demo....Have GalCiv 2

DA too damn sloooo for me!!!!

I dont understand this. GalCiv 2 runs like a dream on my machine. Was going to get around to buying DA sometime...then saw the demo and downloaded it. I was amazed at how slow it ran compared to Galciv 2. Now I have a new machine, and AMD anthlon 64 x2 with 2 gb of ram and I have an Nvidia 6600 pro. Why this runs GalCiv 2 great but DA makes no sense to me, but reading over the posts here, I see alot of people complaining about how slow this game is running. This is a nice game to look at but by no means should it be crawling like it is on my computer. Something is wrong here, and I hope you guys can fix it, untill then, I will be passing on this game.

This is known, and the devs will be working on improving performance in the upcoming 1.6 patch.

Best bet is to just try the demo now that it's out, and see for yourself. It should "run", but until the devs are able to find what's killing performance for many players, it may not run very well at all without disabling some graphic options.

I think you might want to check on some of the spaceship jewelry, some seem to produce lag when just 1 is applied where as other more complex looking jewels i can put an abundant about of the jewels and recieve no lag. This may be part of the problem, or just my unique problem.

Barton 2500+ stock
1GB RAM 433MHz(set down to 333MHz)
GeCube Radeon 9550(set up as 9600XT)
Works like a charm, I just have to dump memory every few years(hours), depending on map size, action and game time.

I definetly think you are on the right track with space ship jewellry causing the problem with lag,I noticed the same problems in my games.until they fix the problem with the upcoming 1.6 patch i have to continue to play with some graphics options turned off.hopefully we won't have to wait too long.
