The Drivers I Have Been Waiting For!

One of the main reasons I couldn't use Vista full-time was the lack of printer drivers from Dell for my paritcular model.  There is things I need to print and scan, and not being able to do that was just much of a hassle.  Checking the Dell website they have a list of printers and the status of Vista drivers.  Of course the model I have did not have compatible drivers, and they said they would not be ready until April.  Which in my experiences would usually mean May or June.

Well I got an e-mail from Dell saying drivers for my printer were ready.  What, ahead of schedule?  Although I was skeptical I downloaded them and fired up Vista.  Installation went smooth and printer just printed a test page.  Great!

While I doubt this will make me switch back to Vista full-time anytime soon, it's nice to know one major problem I was having is taken care of.

Thats nice to hear Island Dog and yes it happens everyday. There are a lot of people waiting and there are a lot of people working very hard to get things worked out with driver problems for Vista.
I hope you will keep trying to get everything you need in your new OS and find the WOW that everyone is talking about!

May I ask as to what Video Card you need Drivers for or are wanting to use. That along with what kind of computer you have?

I Had a wierd thing of Microsoft installing my printer drivers for me during the "Windows Updating" online thing.

Well I redid vista recently, and dang they haven't prompted my Updates for the printer yet..

But that said, The printer is something I can "live without' the main Driver issues I am having is Video...

Damn ATI and NVIDIA...

Just waitin on new ones...

that and for my games I play to have patches for Vista..

But to each their own..

While I LOVE Vista... I think they should have waited to release it..

My printer drivers for my HP photosmart 1000 no longer work, they said they weren't going to make drivers for printers older then 10 years... it's not.

My new monitor came with drivers from HP, and I had misplaced the disk, they weren't on HP's site. I finally found the disk, and when I used the drivers they didn't stick.

I bought a 8800 nvidia, and while the drivers work, there are no advanced settings, they are stock drivers.

I have found some nice features in Vista but overall, I think XP was easier to work with.

Some annoyances with Vista...
1) Can't seem to FTP very well, I get disconnected or my FTP software will stop working. I have tried multiple FTP programs and they all do the same thing. It's annoying since I own 6 websites. So I have to use my other computer with XP on it.

2) Having to run as administrator for some games or programs, and getting asked every single time if I want to run it as an admin.

3) Getting annoyed with the selective startup screen and not being able to tell it not to show me the screen anymore. I don't want to uninstall the programs, I just don't want them to start automatically, and there are some programs which don't have the ability to turn this feature off.

4) Not being able to shut down some services, in order to be able to play some games more smoothly. Vanguard (an mmo) is a memory hog, and those services I want to shut down would increase the overall speed of the game. In XP, running a simple script allowed me to shut down the unnecessary ones, which in turn sped the games up.

i put Vista Business on my machine, and it hasn't been easy, but it's finally up and running at full. the Catylyst drivers i found for my x850 card were incompatible, but i ended up digging around the net for some that worked. now, all i need are drivers for my Audigy Card! Vista Runs well, but there are some real annoyances. I DESPISE the UAC. But i won't disable it because i don't want to be open to the security risks it poses. I also found decent drivers for my Onboard Gigabit NIC, and my chipset drivers were ready for download. overall, i think XP would have been a better choice until Vista is cleaned out, but I got Vista Business for free from work, so i couldn't complain. It does run better than my XP Pro install did...
