Inspiron 9100 Radeon Mobility 9700 issue

Godsdamn and hellfire I'm having a lot of crashing issues with my Inpsiron 9100 when playing Dark Avatar. I have tried three different graphics chip drivers (original Dell, new Dell and Omega latest) and while the crashes have varied a little they are still happening. With the new Dell and Omega as things progress the display will black out ecept for a tinty square around the mouse pointer. Being cunning as a fox i can still navigate my way round, save and exit but its still a pain in the ass. With the original driver it often just dumps me back to windows telling me that Gal Cib has decided to close and would I like to send an error report. I've submitted bug reports but just wanted to know if anyone else had similar problems and had found a work around? Bestest, LM

Get yourself a desktop system with a decent graphic card? Laptops just aren't designed for gaming in mind.

I've got the same card in a different laptop, and GC runs fine on my machine. Are you overclocking the chip by any chance? I had problems like that with a different (more demanding, graphically) game when I had the card OCd too much.

Also make sure to check for virii, spyware, blah blah. You know, the usual stuff

Update all your drivers including sound.

Hi and thanks for the input. The situation has been resolved by uninstalling all preceding drivers and installing the original 05 driver for the card. Now it runs no problem. I t5ried the same with newer Dell driver and the Omega driver but both had problems. So it appears that Belanos (reply one) is a twit and that the latest drivers for some reason are worse than the newer ones.

You have a point there lionmonkey, in a perfect world newer drivers should be better, but bugs are everywhere and the newest drivers sometimes make things worse. It's always best to try a few versions and also look on the tech forums for input about problems with different releases.
Anyway, glad you've got it sorted.
