Diplomacy bugs

DA v1.5068 - sandbox game

There might be some non-bug explanation for these that I'm not aware of. This is probably a coincidence, but I first noticed these bugs just after I encountered the FOW bug.

First this happened

1. I have economic treaties from many races, but no research treaties. I just finished building diplo translators and decided to try and get a research treaty with another race. The research treaties used to show up in the tradable items from the races but they are no longer there for any race. There are no council events that could have caused this and I'm not at war with anyone. I can still give a research treaty, I just can't get one from any of the other races.

Then this happened a few turns later

2. I am way ahead of everyone in technology. I just discovered a minor race and with one planet. I went to try and get an economic treaty from them by giving them some techs, but the minor race had all my technologies according to the diplomacy screen. As I research new technologies, they are showing up in the diplo screen with them. Also, I can see a research treaty is available from this minor race (but still not from any of the other races).

1. Have you considered that the AI traded research treaties to each other, so they were no longer available to you? You can see them on the Treaties tab of the diplomacy screen. In my experience, they don't wait very long to trade their treaties.

2. Minor races start with all the tech known by the player (or maybe the top tech race). It's supposed to make them "competitive" when they appear very late in the game. In practice, since they appear with no military and no production capabilities, they're still fodder for whichever major race happens to be closest.

Well Drank has covered 1, check the treaties sceen and most likely they alreay have treaties with each other.

Not sure about 2 though. Did your uncover come of the map and you found the minor race there, or did they get created on a previously uninhabited planet via an event? They should only start out with advanced tech in the later case, and even then should only get the techs as they start, they shouldn't keep getting them as you research. There's also an event where a minor race can steal all the techs of a major race and offer to sell them off to another major for planets, but again this should only be a one time theft and I'm not sure if it can happen to the player.

First of all, I got it backwards. I have research treaties but no economic treaties.

No, the other races don't have economic treaties as far as I can tell, but I still have not encountered two races.

As far as the minor race goes, I have not seen any mega-events happen. I just found the minor race. Also, I have many times encountered a minor race that doesn't have my technologies. In fact, this is the first time for me to see one that does have all my techs. I am playing on a gigantic map due to the FOW bug. I normally play on a much smaller map so it doesn't take very long to find all the other races. Maybe the techs for minors are set when the first race finds them.

I like bugs. Ants specifically.

Are you saying the FOW bug only appeared on big maps? If that's the case..... AARRGGHH! Oh, well. The FOW fix patch is out anyway.

Yeah, it was only occuring on Gigantic maps. Which sucked for me since that's all I play. Thankfully it's fixed now.

Ain't that the truth,
