Superweapons?

Hi there!

I'm still wandering among the game, discovering it.
In good ol' GC1, there were marvellous Superweapons that allowed me to sent to their doom sinners who refused to bow before me by destroying their stars...
Is there such toys in GC2-DA?

Yep, look like there are no more big toys.

Look likes you can get some special weapons if you choose the "Evil" alignment, but I have never used them.

What are these special weapons exactly? I've never played anything but EVIL so I really don't know what goodies I am missing out on, or what goodies I have that they don't have.

i just finished my first evil game and the weapons set up is really bad. the phycohwatever beam is 12 damag and size 8 and costs 150. honestly this is way over powered. its realitivly low on the tech tree and in order to find a weapon that gave me more per space i had to rearch all the way to the very last weapons tech! PLUS theres a bug at the top of the tech tree. the 2 techs befor that very last one didnt give me a new weapons component even thought the tech said it should... idk whats up with this. maybe people just never max out their beam weapons techs so people dont ever notice... idk. thoguhts, comments, "your totally wrong"s??

From what I remember, there are certain techs that are more like 'precursor' techs in that they help you along to the next level but don't actually give you anything 'physical', like a stepping stone. I could be wrong of course. I do know that I've researched to the end of beam weapons and am rewarded with the Doom Ray, so there is an 'absolute' level when it comes to a weapon.

Those techs are supposed to be freaking crazy. Also, notice that they come with a price. Literally, a huge price tag... they might make for some brutal ships, but the ships will take a long time to build.

I'd like to see occasional spinoff/extra weapons on the tech tree designed for larger ships... on a space/damage basis, they'd be WAY ahead of anything in the current generation, but they'd also take up a phenomenal amount of space. In other words, they'd be one shot wonders that lack the advantage that using clusters of weapons has in DA: the ability to hit many targets. Ships built with it would be nice capital ship crushers, but pretty crappy at taking out fighters...

What are spore ships? I thought they were a sort of Superweapons...
Even just blowing planet or killing every body on it can still fit to me.

They do 3-4 times the damage of weapons of the same research level.

Indeed, I consider that a formidable superweapon. After all, you just need to remove his fleet from orbit. Once that's done just roll in a Spore Ship and kaboom.
