Ship Movement Oddities?

I don't know if this is a bug because I may just be doing things wrong. But I will explain the scenario:

you have a ship with 6 moves per turn. You select it and click on a spot where you want it to go. Now in my mind, in that turn (assuming it had not used up its six moves already i.e. 6/6) it should immediately move 6 "moves" toward said spot. Then you hit the "turn" button. The computer does what it is going to do. Then the "turn" button reappears. Here's where the "problem seems to occur. You see one of two things can happen. My ship can move 6 more spaces towards the designated spot on its own OR I can re-select is and move it towards the spot again. Why would I want to do the latter? Well, it seems to me sometimes the computer doesn't move its six moves on said ship each turn. Or to put it another way, my "babying" the ship seems to get it to the spot I want it to go to quicker than if I let the computer do it.

Is this just all in my head?

No, if you set the auto-pilot the ship will seem to lose a turn.

It will be the second time that you hit the turn button that the ship will resume its movement. And it will move every turn thereafter until it reaches its destination.

Yah, it doesn't actually move for the autopilot until you hit the turn button. It's kinda nice that way because if something happens, you can change where it's going if you need to. Otherwise you just hit turn again, and it moves it further along.

Mind you, the autopilot move happens at the END of the turn you click to end, not at the start of the next turn. You don't REALLY go slower.

You can always make the last move manually at the start of a turn to get it there.
