What happened with AI?

Hi

I just install 1.40X path. New game, "Allow AI to use CPU-intensive algorithms" set to Yes, difficult level "Crippling".

When I meet aliens first time, I had 10 colonies, 2 aliens civilizations had 2 colonies each.

What wrong with AI? In previous versions AI always had more colonies than me.

Thanks

Vasiliy

No.

The AI requires some time to do some calculations. Its possible that the time you are using to govern your empire, and the time inbetween turns is not enough time for the AI to make decisions. As such, it might act with a half formulated plan that is easier to exploit.

The option you are asking about allows the AI enough time to finish its calculations. Thats all. If the AI is set to fool, it will still will be a fool, just one that is given the time it needs to finish coming up with its foolish plans.

Some people have reported the intelligence getting reset if you Ctrl-N, if you used that option.

In DL I believe it mostly just makes the AI design ships a lot more often, so it can adapt more quickly to your designs. In DA the high CPU options add a lot more (frequent ship design, long term planning, better analysis of human moves, etc).

Often the intelligence will sneakily change settings inbetween games - i havn't noticed it happen using CBTRL+N but i have often seen it happen after returning to the main menue to set up a new game. Yes it likes to set itself to beginner, perhaps because it feels you should play that level since you did not complete the last game?? lol
