Constructor Influence Circle

Constructor Influence Circle

I am having a real hard time seeing the "influence circle" around my constructors that show what it's sphere of influence will be when I build a starbase. I've fiddled around with the ambient light, contrast, and brightness settings but haven't had any luck making the circle easier to see. Anyone else with this challenge and/or solutons?

Figuring out what to do with such a thing is the easy part. Getting the right planet to be exactly where it needs to be is the tricky part.

I saw what you were saying Mumble, the only problem is I do not count 24. I count more than 20, but not 24. Am I still missing it?

Yes. You can get 24 SB's whose influence area overlap on two parsecs.

It is? Who said it has to be a planet?

So quick question, If the visible starbase influence ring is touching a planet at all it gets bonuses?

Is there any instance where the starbase influence circle is touching a planet (say on the very edge of the ring) but it does not affect the planet because and optical illusiion or coding error?

The influence circle only has to touch the square (i.e. parsec) that the planet is in. It doesn't have to touch the planet itself at all. See my reply #3 of this thread. If the SB is at the center of the picture any parsec within the red polygon gets the SB bonus.

No.

Ok, I see it now, thanks Mumble.

My problem is that on my screen there are a few lines missing from your graph which makes a few of the squares bigger than they are supposed to be. Since this was the case and I did not take them into account, I did see it the last time I looked. I just counted 22 due to the squares themselves.

I guess it does not have to be a planet, although I am unsure as to why you wouldn't want it to be. I do not own DA so I do not fully understand if you could use starbases to increase production of a mining colony. Unless I realized somewhere during game play that a particular point in space would be constantly contested, I do not think I would build 24 military starbases which would overlap at a single point. Unless again, I am missing a vital use of a starbase. Maybe using a resource starbase as your center, but it would have to be awfully important for me to spend that kind of cash.

You can't have any starbase at the center, otherwise you will not get the benefit of the 24.
You are right about the cost - for full ship bonuses in those two parsecs you will need to build 672 constructors minimum and most of the starbase upgrades will cost 100-400BC

I am in Jan of year 8 in my current gigantic game. I decided to go ahead and try this out. I have found that it is not the 100 - 400 BC per upgrade that is killing me. It is the.... It will cost you 1900 BC to build this starbase... it will cost you 2100 BC to build this starbase... so on and so forth, this is due to the amount of starbases I already have floating around. It is crazy man! I am hoping to complete this game sometime soon. Should only take me 8 turns or so to get the array up.

On a different note, this is my first Gigantic map, and it may be my last. I started it the end of December. To long without posting a game. I think I am going to go back to my small/medium maps. I wonder how well this will work on them.....
