Ship hulls and styles

So I'm still rather new to modding GC2...

I noticed that when creating new ship styles, only ship templates created with the same race/style will show up. So, I'm trying to make a ship style that contains all ship hulls. In other words, I want this style to be able to use all templates regardless of the race that template was based on. Any idea how that could be done?

Yeah, sounds simple enough, thanks. Except I don't get it, sorry.

What exactly do I do with this prefix? I tried copying a style file into my \My Games\...\shipstyles\ folder, and change the

Get Kryo's hull mod. With that installed, you have acces to all the hulls and can mix and match to boot. You can create a template using any of the race hulls or create something that has elements of 3 or 4 of them. You can even use asteroids for a ship part/hull, or use the Dread Lords ones. It's a great mod if you're into shipbuilding.

i don't think that'd do it. that's the prefix for components. i don't think ship templates are stored in any universal manner, but of course i may be wrong.

uly, what you can do to use all the ship hulls for the same race is download Kryo's Hull System Mod, if you haven't yet. it'll also give you a number of new jewelry pieces that can truly enhance your ship designs (offsets to invisibly move pieces, hardpoint clusters for stacking pieces, and even asteroids).

unfortunately, this won't allow you to use your designs when you play as any race. ship designs are stored as one of six styles: terran, drengin, altarian, torian, yor, and dreadlord.

if you want to be able to use the same designs when you play as a different race, you simply need to pick the appropriate ship style when you set up your race. so if you design a bunch of ships while playing as the terrans, when you go to your next game, make sure you pick the terran ship style on the 'appearance' tab of your race customization screen (i think it's called appearance, anyway).

if you want the AI players to use your designs, it's a little tricker. you'll have to replace the core ship designs with your own custom designs by renaming the custom ones and moving them into the correct folder. your designs are stored in my documents/my games/(something SD or GC related next). the core designs are stored in the program files folder. i'm at work so i can't look up the exact name, but i'm sure if you search the forums long enough, you'll find a more step-by-step explanation of how to do this.

Actually with DA, you can simply assign templates you've previously created to each ship role when customizing your opponents at game creation. The AI's starting ships and all of its designs will use those templates you assign it.

S99_ only makes models universal--there is no way that I'm aware of to make templates universal short of making copies of all of them with the prefix affiliated with the style you're using. Every race has its own style in DA. If you simply want to have all the base hull designs available at once, you can use my mod as pointed out by others.

Okay, I will try kryo's mod out.

From what I can tell, templates created with kryo's mod will only work if kryo's mod is installed. Is that true? (I want to confirm this to see if I should backup kryo's mod along with my saves...)

Yes.
