Yep ... Post Patch AI too stingy with techs

Hi All,

No I am not talking about tech trading, which admittedly was too easy to exploit. I have destroyed the Altarian Resistance and have sacked about 12 of their planets. They are down to about 4 planets and my forces are irresistable. We have never warred before and I have a considerable diplomatic advantage.

I offer peace for a single tech of advanced colonization.

They turn me down!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is CRAZY! They would rather be exterminated then give me a non-military tech???? I hope this gets fixed - this was one of the things that I hated about CIV4. I remember pre-patch DA that an AI would give you just about ANYTHING to survive - which was a lot more realistic.

Yes, they've become rather wierd when it comes to colonization techs. Even in trading, it would stand to reason that a straight swap of one for another would be fair and to their advantage, but I can offer them my Barren world tech with 3 other minor ones included and some cash and they won't go for it. I even tried trading Barren Worlds for Galactic Warfare once to see what would happen, but no deal.

Maybe they don't trust you, and figure taht you will wipe them out anyway, so theymight as well spite you. If I were in thier place, I would turn you down as well.

But if that was the case then why ever sue for peace? You might as well keep sacking planets and possibly get the techs that way. It still seems silly to prefer certain extermination rather than give away a single non-military tech.

Oh ... and BTW THEY were the one's that started the war.

I've noticed strange AI behavior, too. In my recent Yor AAR I gave the Terrans a chance at peace, assuming they sweetened the deal just a bit. They said no. Then I simply offered peace (they had only Mars left with no ships, so they would never be a threat to me) and they said no.

Then the opportunistic Drengin declared war on the Terrans, so I ended the situation with a transport into the undefended Mars. Game over for the Terrans.
