1.50x0.68 fog of war bug

I know this is a known bug - and resolved at the developer end to be released in the next patch -

But just thought I'd share a quick fix if anyone's having issues with it... Give yourself one of the "sensors" race ability and the problem seems to disappear.

I edited the abilitybonus.xml file so it doesn't cost anything - but just thought I'd share in case anyone finds it helpful.

I'm pretty sure that the custom race I play with has this ability, and the fog is still there. I'll have to double-check, though.

Never mind...

It seemed to work the first time, but I reset the map and its back.... GRRRRR... Ruins gigantic maps

Looks like the only way to deal with this is a system restore.

FWIW, I really think Stardock should take this patch down - I don't know what it improved, but it renders gigantic maps unplayable -- even when you start in the middle to lower right quadrant -- the far left and top quadrants remain hidden even when you explore them.

Mistakes happen - and glad to hear it'll be fixed in the next patch - but I think you'll be saving customers some angst if you removed this patch.

It fixed a bug that prevented anyone from being able to submit scores to the metaverse. So it's either break the metaverse or seriously inconvenience gigantic map players. Fairly lose-lose, really. What they need to do (and what I'm sure they are doing) is get something out the door to fix the issues caused by this update.

Does this bug only affect gigantic maps then? So far this patch has been one of the best stardock has produced imo there are a lot of little tweaks and bug fixes that have greatly improved gameplay.

Obviously if I played gigantic maps I wouldn't be so ammused, bugs can be introduced for instance the PQ bug on the first DA update led me to stop playing the game until this latest patch was released.

The patch def shouldn't be taken down the last version was awful compared to this.

Anyway I just hope gigantic maps are the only maps affected my current large game doesn't seem to be.

you are describing 1.50x0.66 not 1.50x0.68.

Just checked Stardock and it seems your right. To busy playing eh   So .68 has the fog bug and not .66 is that correct? Also what map sizes does it affect and what other noticable changes are there between .66 and .68?

I just tried to roll back to .66 but failed.

what i want to know is how the hell this was allowed to be distributed without anyone noticing that it makes the game near unplayable. this update is a downgrade. congrats we can now post scores for the games we cant play. keep up the good work

Glad I haven't been quick to update for a change then. Stardock really should do something pronto about this, prob would only take 10 mins to fix and make avaliable for download if that. Perhaps now the weekend is over it will get fixed on monday...

This appears actually to only effect large maps either gigantic or huge, not the smaller maps.

Well I sure wish they'd hurry up and release the fix they supposedly already have for it. I'd really like to get on with it and actually play the game.
