We're extremely pleased to hear how much people seem to like the expansion pack (Dark Avatar) to Galactic Civilizations II. We're also glad that reviews have been so positive (average review score is about 4.75 stars out of 5).  But we're not finished yet! Tell us how we can make the game better for you.

For those of you who are new to buying Stardock software, the product you purchase is just the beginning of what you get. Stardock updates it software based on customer feedback.

In the case of Galactic Civilizations II: Dark Avatar we are lookoing for suggestions and feature requests that players would like to see in a free update.

Mind you, these can't be massive new features (i.e. "Multiplayer" or "Fleet combat") but rather little things that you think would make the game more enjoyable for you and others. Tweaks, new options, new features, improvements, etc.

Let us know what you'd like us to do. We are at your disposal!

Oh yeah, I forgot one, also if you could make it more likely that you would have your colonies revolt if you have multiple colonies with low happiness or morale. Then the would revolt to a new major race (not minor race) with the name of your race except adding rebillion and your logo with a (/) through it and the opposite of your color. Also this new race would only have your technology not, the greatest technology available and immediatly be at war with you potentionally have outside allies, also their ethical allignment would be opposite of yours and have advance espionage levels against you.

I think this would be better than just the random event that several colonies left various empire to create the injustice league or whatever, and give them the capability of giving other races the run for the money.

Another suggestion would be to give you the choice if you wanted to stay with your origional empire or switch to the rebellion. This wouldn't make as much sense however, if you knew you screwed up it might give you as a player a new life.

Also, I know I've mentioned it in a post before and I've seen it in other posts, however, What I would like to see is a seperate building reflecting the bonus option that was chosen for a planet when colonated, such as a research bonus would reflect a special research building that when clicked would tell the player what type of bonus is associated with it, this building would be built on a tile that would not be part of the planet quality and would not be able to be destroyed after the choice was made and so on

Actually just add 'People's Republic of ' to the race name or

Topic: Spored planets graphics

Are stardock going to change the planet graphics to reflect there new toxic status once they have been spored in 1.6? The planet graphics should turn a nice shade of toxic purple like the original toxic planets start as.

ok heres another thing i would like for Christmas...

the ability to sort, under different tabs, my different ships. i don't mean the one that i have already build but the ones that i can build.

Similarly to when we're constucting our ships from scratch; where there are tabs for weapons, hulls, modules etc. and even sub-tabs for missles, beam and laser.

I think it would be great if i could create my own tabs where all my avaiable ships are listed and be able to drag and drop a ship into a tab. so i can separate thm as i wish. non-cobatants, beam verses laser, ships that cost over $$$, or by useful task. Anyway that the player wants to have his ships categorized. after a while it gets hard to keep scrolling looking for a specific ships among the many.

and an unchangeable default tab for game-created designs as they become available

Oh, an interface tweak: on survey ships, it'd be nice if the greyed out "construct" buttom when you select the ship was "auto survey". A small change that'd save a couple seconds.

Fix it so the Industrial Spending slider starts the game at 100% - at least on Normal difficulty and above.

I would really appreciate if the map editor the developer used could be released. I understand that it won't be supported and that there will be bugs. Still, I believe it could help creating and mostly editing custom maps - its definitely worth a try

I demand a kitchen sink with a purchase of the game!!!

Maybe, when trading techs, instead of getting all those techs immediately, we get all but one of the necessary research points. Then the player would still have to spend a turn of research to implement the new designs. This would make it more important to trade for older techs, because you'd still have to research them in sequence. (But after the trade, you can probably research several techs in sequence in one turn).

Hmm. Thats interesting... if you needed the prereqs to research any further, that'd provide a fairly safe way to give a boost to an ally without the possibility of it backfiring and them building off that research...

I would like to see the ability to develop planetary moons. You could just have a few build tiles in the corner that are listed as lunar surfaces. The # of tiles would vary with the quality of the moon, and the # of moons would vary by planet. This would make judging the value of planet much more interesting, as you could have a class 5 base world, but if it has 2 or 3 good moons, it can still be a powerhouse planet.

The other thing I would like to see, and its more cosmetic then anything, is redoing the way resources look, give them actual names, rather then "influence resource" or "economic resource" and give them nifty graphics instead of the polygonal shapes they currently display as.

thats my 2 cents worth anyways.

This is a great game and I love it that there you guys have a huge support community. Other games don't do this. Anyway, down to business:

1. Improved Diplomacy: I'd like to see more treaties like "Do this or this means war," instead of empty demands. Also I'd like to see in the diplomacy an option to demand a ship or station removed in or close to your border. This makes things much easier instead of attacking it, thus causing war and trying to get out of it.

2. Weapons: I'd love to see cooler, newer weapons of "Mass Destruction". Such as nukes perhaps? Like you would have to build a silo on a planet to be able to unlock one and then use it to totally destroy a planet or ballistick missiles that could destroy an improvement on one tile. If you use nukes you need a radioactive tech to be able to live there. Also a cooler weapon on the huge ships. Something that screams death but soo good that only one could be fitted.

3. Starbases: Allow the military starbases to attack incoming ships. This would be nice because all they do is sit around really. Also allowing them to move would be great because you soon forget about them and they eat up your economy.

4. Story Mode: I know this is asking allot. But I really loved the idea that your adventures in Sand Box mode could be turned into a story. That was the coolest bit for me.

5. Stargates: I like the idea that you could build a stargate, making travelling between any of them easier. But only build them in the local area of the sun because it can power it? This would make military stretagy interesting because ships would defend a ship that could build such a thing next to a sun that has an enemy planet close by. Thus sending in military ships would be faster and easier, but could be used by anyone so having ships orbit it would be good. Also it could be used for trade.

Anyway, these are just ideas and I hope you at least read them over and give you a little bit of an idea. Thanks for putting this post on the site!

Will Stardock tells us what will be included and the release date soon ?
Can't wait to know!

How about the option to threaten the AI, I've been waiting a long time to be able to tell it go get those warships out of my space or remove all the economy/influence starbases it seems to put in at random. It does it to me, so why can't I threaten it?

This would be good if it could be worked, but it must be a biatch to program. What parameters would the AI use to determine a fair response, and how far would it reach. eg. " you're economic Capital is making you too much money, give me 500b or else"

Kick their arse, thats what I say.

hope this wasn't suggested already and disregarded.

how about every time you add an addition to a star base the hp by one point. If not for all additions, then maybe just the defense additions.

If this is something that was addressed with mods, then sorry.

These ideas have been mentioned before but I would like to reiterate them.
1. Please place the option on the game setup screen to set the frequency of the extreme environment worlds and also that of mega events.
2. Please create a governer for worlds like that for starship construction. Such that I can pick a social structure (such as Discovery Sphere)and upgrade them all to something else (Neutrality learning center). I enjoy micromanagement but I get tired of going through every world and changing sometimes hundreds of structures to a different type. Ideally I would like a more complicated system but I understand this may not be feasible. Since the ability to pick old social structures (great decision!!!!) I almost never use the auto-upgrade function.
3. Please incorporate a quicker repair function (starport, starbase)of sorts as long as it does not create a game imbalance.
4. Tweak UP. Possibly increase the frequency of the UP votes or allow it to be changed at the setup screen.
5. Please work on the tech trading balance. (I know this must be a nightmare)
6. Anomalies respawn.

Thanks again Stardock for your refreshing business model. I look forward to your next update.

Apologies if this has been mentioned already, but here's something I'd really appreciate that doesn't change the gameplay *whatsoever*, but adds some really nice flavor.

Ship name lists.

Let us make lists of names that our ships names will be randomly chosen from on creation. Ship names add recognition (hey -- that's The Vesuvius - my prototype missle cruiser!), but are a chore to add at this point.

EDIT: It appears this has been discussed a bit over here:

https://forums.galciv2.com/?forumid=247&aid=129147

A simple fix -- let us make a plain-text list of names, sorted by hull size and faction that on creation, our ships will choose from!

My idea:

1) Give players the option to choose between creating either the latest version of a farm/factory/etc or one of the previous versions of a farm/factory/etc.

I really meant more of a threat to remove starbases/ships from your territory, something pretty basic. You know how when the computer goes "We see what you're planning, pack up those transports, or, how about getting that influence starbase away from our homeworld." I just want to be able to do that to them, since I hate having my space cluttered up with fleets of outdated ships and unupgraded starbases that just sit there. Whether they actually do it or not could simply be based on relations strength (Warm, cool, whatever,) or military strength.

Ie, they could do it because they like you, or they could do it because they know you could beat them. (Or vice versa, they don't take it out because they hate you, or they know they could beat you.)

I really like the stargate idea too, but you should only be able to build them in your sphere of influence, and maybe have a treaty with an alien race to interconnect your gate systems. Too bad this seems like more of an expansion thing ...

Also, comedy carriers option. I'd still really like to see them, but know it'll probably never happen.

It would be cool if the Shipyard screen and ship design screens would give attack, defense, speed, range, and sensor range values for the ship as built, in addition to the base values. For example, right now if you have +25% weapons ability, your ship will be listed as having a gun attack value of 9, when the actual value of the ship will be 10 or 11 when it is built.

This is especially important when building scouts ("sensor ships"), where there is no point in adding sensor modules that would take you above the upper limit of 15 pc sensor range.

WOW
I couldnt finish reading all of those.
some were cool but micromanagement killed MOO3
and would surely slow game flow.
as this is the greatest game i've ever played, i could only ask that the bugs that freeze my pc get fixed.
but for future expansions,(i know you nixed them already) multiplayer is a must.
my best friend of over 30 years lives far away and we would love nothing more than to compete against each other over the net. and head-to-head would let my wife in edgewise.lol
oh, i know something to improve. i always notice the turning point is always when you reach most powerful in an open game. once i'm there, i know i will eventually win and the thrill is gone. the AI should get a few more saving throws or sudden surges that could potentially upset my victory.
thank you for a great game

Wow,,, 1.34 hours reading ideas,,but here are mine,,

When trading with another race I always have the message that my incredible diplomacy skills give me a massive advantage. Even if I have NO diplomacy skills and can't trade everything for impulse drive. Have the message set to properly describe our relative skills.
Repair modules for starbases is almost a must-have. P p p p PLEASE.

That's about all for me,,, I did see some good ideas posted but i will only mention these.

And thank you for this exchange of ideas,, plenty to keep you busy
