custom ship templates as core ships

Okay, It might sound confusing but here's the problem. I have created a whole bunch of new ship templates ready to mod my custom race from head to toe. I created a custom ship style so now when I am in the screen to select different ship styles, my style, Roamers, shows up in the list along with all other races' ship style. However, here's where the problem comes in. The core ship style will change only if my race is one of the AI opponents. If I play as Roamers, then the new templates I created only show up in the user defined section. Is there any way to use the new templates as core when I play it? I used Arcean ship style when I first created the templates so now even if I select my own ship style, the core ships will be Arcean ships instead of the one I make. I tried changing the prefixes but then my ship images went blank. What am I doing wrong here? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am talking about DA here of course.

You'll need to use a new number prefix instead of adding to the Arceans one. Then, create duplicates of each ship and place them in the Shipcfg folder as well. Should work that way.

You can't do that, all the numbers from 0-9 are already in use. One thing you can do is just delete most of the core ships that are listed in GC2Ships. That way only your own designs will appear in the game. You need to leave a few of them in there though, like all your starting ships, as well as the Starbase and Pirate ships. Then when the game starts, just upgrade to your own versions. I ran into the same issue myself, and that was the only compromise I could come up with. I sure wish they'd change it so we can use custom styles as well.

Yep but, ohh say.... 22 isn't. I've sucessfully made about 20 or so unique shipstyles that way.
