Why Can't We Edit OP's?

I see replies re this on a fairly consistent basis. I am obviously not the only one who might like to add a pertinent fact or two to my original post. Are there enough of us out there to warrant the effort needed?

Err, you can. It's under "tools" in the upper right next to the reply button.

You can edit the OP. In fact the OP is the only post that you can edit long after someone else has posted. Go to the "Tools" menu and select "Edit Post". Here's a screen shot.

as a teacher in the works, i think you shouldn't feel foolish. 'stupid' questions are often on several individuals' minds; i for example didn't know how to do this, and i had just never asked.

Hey, I didn't notice it until a week ago myself. These forums are a little... arcane at times, there's no harm in asking.
