Computer shuts off during play?

Hello again, sorry to post another thread, but this is an unrelated issue to the driver failure. (I think.)

In the middle of play, my computer seemed to shut itself off, although it was not completely off, the green light that indicates it is on turned orange and began blinking on and off. It wasn't completely off, because I had to push the button once to turn it off completely, and hten again to turn it back on. I haven't tried to play the game again since then, but this has happened twice more, just while browsing the internet, and again while typing this post. (About 30 minutes passed between each incident.)

I'm worried because this has happened while the game wasn't playing ... the only thing I've done recently is updated my video drivers.

Thanks for any help.

The two most likely reasons:

1) GPU or CPU are overheating, causing automatic emergency powerdown.

2) PSU is overloaded or failing.

Other hardware issues are also possible.

I as having similar problems late last year. There is a good chance that it is the Power unit as Kryo suggests.
The reason that the PSU is so often the problem these days is that we keep adding more & more extra drives etc and they all eat power so it is using more than the original spec called for. So do not just replace it, upgrade it too.

As he also said it could be another hardware issue.

I left the computer off for a while and the problem seems to have gone away, so I guess it was overheating ... what can I do to alleviate this problem? I never seemed to have it with dreadlords, and I ran up to Huge galaxies fine on it ...

How would I go about upgrading the PSU?

Thanks for any advice

Open the case, see what the PSU wattage is rated at, buy a higher wattage unit, and replace the old unit with a new one.
