GalCiv II Collector's Ed. will not install

I just opened the GalCivII CE and the cd-rom is not scratched in any way and i my pc is newly installed with WinXP PRO SP2 but when it gets to 33% it says "An I/O error occurred while installing a file. this is normally caused by bad installation media or a corrupt installtion file." I switched off all background programs, my firewall and antivirus, and switched cd-rom's and get the same error

Have you tried copying the files to your local harddisk?
Either there is something wrong with the cd or with your hardware (memory, cable).

If you have broadband you can install it straight from stardock central.

That's exactly what I was going to suggest. Just put your seral number in after installing SD Central and then you can install everything fresh with latest patches.

Here's the link: SCDCentral
