I got hit with a recession in Aug 2191. It's now Apr 2196 and the recession is still here. How long does this thing last?

Update: I feel that Recessions, Xenophobia, Dreadlord and other like events should be logged somewhere.

I second that - this is also part of what I've asked about previously - a Turn summary sheet somewhere, or event summeray would be incredibly, and give more feel and credibility to a living breating galaxy

About the recession...hang in there. I got one that seemed to last like 10-15 years! I got it fairly early in the game and it didn't go away for a long time. I also thought it was forgotten about since I had saved the game and quit and returned the next day. But it did eventually end.

Yes, that galactic recession is a real bitch. Got it in my 2nd to last game, and in my current game. But in my last game I got the galactic economic boom, and wow did that speed up development! I was already maxed out on trade routes when it hit, and had done the economic capital and most planets had done stock markets and planetary stock markets, so partway through the boom I had spending set at 100%, tax rate at 20%, and was still piling up cash like crazy. I got almost all the way to beyond humanity before the boom ended.

My recessing is in it 5th year :( Tax rate: 54 and spend 30 yields surplus 30bc. The Arcean economy collasped in 3 months and the Yor conquered them in 3rd year.
Put a lid on these events, 3 years max.

I got a recession that not only didn't end, it was race-specific.

Actually, the "recession ended" panel appeared, but I never could get anywhere near production afterwards.

First, this is my first Galciv game since the OS/2 version. Doing well and staying in front of the Altarians (barely). Built up a nice treasury (6000+). Got the "recession" warning screen but blithely ignored it until I hit -800 negative treasury. All my worlds went bad on Morale, but I had remembered to build Transports at all systems so I was able to keep up morale by reducing the population.

Now here's the funny bit. If you drew a line down the middle of the galaxy, all races with HQs on one side were unaffected. Production did not drop at all. All races on the other side tanked - Terrans, Drengin, a couple of minors.

I waited out the recession, but production never did come back up to previous levels. Morale was okay - about 48%. Tried various tax and spend rations. Nothing worked. After a couple years the Altaraians attacked an ate my lunch.

Is this a bug??

i had one last for nearly an entire game that i won by tech victory. it must have really hurt the ai because it was my first game and i didn't build ANY ships the whole game and didn't get attacked until 'beyond human' just after the recession ended
