Terran's Diplomatic Super-Ability

Does it increase influence?

The description suggests that the Diplomatic Super-Ability increases influence. Does it? And if so, by how much?

I'm trying to have a "super-influence" build to flip planets like nobody's business, so I was wondering about this.

I think they mean influence in the little "i" sense ... i.e. making your opponents do what you want (influencing them). I don't believe it does anything to the game type of Influence.

It could still be very useful for you, since the massive diplomatic bonuses will keep people from trying to fight you. Plus, if you're using the terrans anyways, you get their influence bonus.

Thanks! However, the terrans don't get a "native" influence bonus, do they? I don't see it on the choose abilities tab. Indeed, no race has an influence bonus.

The Terrans native diplomatic ability is a huge advantage in the game with tech trading turned on. Without tech trading the advantage is removed somewhat and the race become somewhat difficult to use very well imho.

Still i like using them just for the sake of playing as a human

BTW, does anyone know what exactly are the advantages to being a super diplomat race?

actually, I'd like to know the stats and details for ALL the super-abilities! the descriptions both in game and in the manual aren't particularly helpful.

1. Affects the attitudes of other races towards you; much less likely to war upon you, and much more likely to view you favorably, form alliances and treaties
2. Really shines with tech trading (as noted before). You get much better deals, and coupled with the Galactic Bazaar wonder, you can almost trade a bead necklace for a fusion power plant.
3. Much easier to convince other races to war upon their neighbors than you.
4. You can maintain a much smaller military due to your favorable reputation, lag behind in weaponry techs, etc.

Exact stats and details would be nice, maybe they'll make it into the wiki

You can also trade more often as the so-called "silent treatment" effect does not last for as many turns as other races.

That's the key one to me. Especially when you manage to work your way into a full on tech trader AND peacebroker. When someone asks you for help getting another race to lay off, you DON'T refuse. I think it also helps you when you're allied to two races that go to war with one another. Depending on your diplomacy rating, I think it affects the chances that you'll be forced to pick sides.

High diplomacy = "easy" button.

High diplomacy bonus rocks...it makes everything in the game easier. If youre playing with tech trading, the galaxy is your shopping cart. And on the hardest difficulty levels where they key is to "survive" the early game until you can overwhelm opponents with infrastructure, the high diplomacy acts as a deterrent on its own merits, as well as being able to easily pay people off to attack each other( and keep them off your back) .
